Chapter 33

-One Month Later-

For the past month, Jasper has been trying to get ahold of me, and I've honestly been afraid to answer. He's probably been waiting to chew me out for knocking him out with a chair. So I've actually been ignoring him for a long time, and I haven't really seen or talked to him since that day. He stopped calling about a week ago, and I was hoping he just gave up. The sound of my phone constantly ringing and buzzing was very unsettling when I knew it was my furious gigantic man brother. But it has been more relieving now that it stopped. 

Lapis was in the shower - singing of course - and I slumped in my bed watching TV. It was a little after 6 PM, and a re-run of my favorite TV show "Camp Pining Hearts" was playing. Once the episode ended, some dramatic soap opera started playing, and Lapis walked out of the bathroom, wearing fresh clothes and holding a towel in her hand. "Hey." she muttered casually, walking over to her bed to check her phone. "Hey. How was the shower?" I mindlessly asked, my eyes still glued to the TV. "Good. It's a shame you weren't in there with me." Lapis replied, causing my gaze to rip away from the TV to look at her. She had a smirk on her face as she continued scrolling through her phone, with her towel still in her free hand. I groaned, turning on my side away from her, hiding my obvious blush. You have no idea. 

I then heard my phone buzz, which was sitting on the TV stand. I rolled my eyes, forcing myself to get up from my comfortable bed. I hopped off, and walked toward the TV stand to pick it up. WHIP. "OOWWAAUGH!!!" I screamed after I felt something roughly strike my ass. I turned around and realized that Lapis had used her towel to whip me. "What?" she asked innocently, smiling at me. 

I glared at her, feeling my face heat up even hotter than before, and I softly rubbed my now burning BUTT. I turned back around, and picked my phone up, not responding to Lapis. I heard her snicker, and I groaned again. I noticed it was a missed call from Squari - hhhh. What could she possibly want? I knew I had to call her back...maybe in a week. Yeah, I'll wait a week, then call her back. BZZZZZZT. BZZZZZT. I almost screamed as the buzz of my phone scared the crap out of me. It was Squari again. I stared down at the phone, waiting for the ringing to stop so I can get on with my life. Once it stopped, I swiped away the 'missed call' notifications and checked my other ones. The phone then rang AGAIN, and I groaned loudly. 

WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH MY SIBLINGS CALLING ME 4,567 TIMES PER SECOND A DAY?! I pressed decline, and almost immediately after I did that, it rang again. "Why does your phone keep buzzing?" Lapis finally asked, looking over at me. "Ugh, Squari keeps calling me. But I don't wanna answer." I replied. "Damn, first Jasper, now Squari? Something must be going on, Peri." Lapis said, and I rolled my eyes. "She's probably just gonna stick up for Jasper. Jasper probably told her what happened at this point. I don't need her on my ass now." I grumbled. It kept ringing. Just. Kept. Ringing. I finally just answered the damned thing, getting highly irritated. "What is it, Squari?!" I growled. "What the fuck, Peridot?! Why haven't you been answering my texts or calls you asshole?!" she asked in a raised voice. 

Why is she in such a pissy mood?! "Hey, don't get angry at me! What is it, Squaridot?!" I asked in an annoyed voice. "It's Jasper!" she answered, her voice more anxious now. "Ugh, I don't wanna hear it. I'm not sorry for what I did, Squari. I'm not gonna listen to you stick up for that ass." I groaned. "Wait what?! What're you talking about?! Jasper's in a coma! He's at the hospital!" Squari yelled, and my eyebrows shot up. "What? Did I really hit him that hard?" I asked, a little surprised. "Peridot, something isn't right. He overdosed!" she explained, her voice sounding more and more urgent. My heart skipped a beat, and my angry expression immediately softened. 

"H-he what?!" "Jasper's roommate found him in the bathroom and there were pills everywhere! He was all passed out against the wall and there was puke in the bathtub! His face is still really pale! He looks fucking dead!" Squari cried, and my hand holding the phone shook. Oh shit. "Oh fuck! Oh my god..." I squeaked, internally panicking. "Get your ass here right now, Peridot!" Squari shouted, and I trembled. "U-uh y-yeah I'll be r-right there!" I yelped. I then hung up the phone, and looked over at Lapis with a scared expression. 

"What is it?" Lapis stared at me, looking concerned. "Jasper...he overdosed. He's in the hospital." I said in a shaky voice. Lapis looked shocked, and she shrunk back a bit on the bed. "I-I gotta go see him. You wanna come with me?" I asked, putting my shoes on in a hurry. "Y-yeah let's go." Lapis muttered, getting her varsity jacket on.
