Lapis remained silent, and my eyes flickered between her and Pearl in confusion. Amethyst looked just as clueless as me, and we stared at each other for a moment. "Uh... Lapis? You... oka-" "I'm fine." Lapis cut me off. Her eyes never left Pearl, and I seriously did not know what the hell was going on here. I looked over at Garnet, who adjusted her glasses and turned away - I could sense she was feeling a bit awkward as well. "Hey P, you alright?" Amethyst asked, turning to Pearl. Pearl didn't exactly reply, and her eyes darted everywhere except for Lapis.
Okay something is seriously wrong here. "Anywho. It's my turn." Lapis deadpanned, suddenly standing up. She brought her ball to the lane, and aggressively launched it. The marble ball made a loud boom noise as it hit the wood floor down the lane. It rolled at what appeared the speed of light, and violently crashed into all 12 pins. I raised my eyebrows, still feeling very lost, but overall impressed. But I'm pretty sure anger outweighed the skill in that strike.
She walked back down to the seats, and plopped down into hers. I tilted my head, giving Lapis a concerned expression. However, she didn't even look at me, for her eyes remained glued to the floor beneath us. Amethyst placed her hand on Pearl's gently and furrowed her eyebrows. "Hey... what's the matter?" I heard her whisper, and Pearl had an extremely uneasy look on her face. "N-nothing, Amethyst. Let's just keep playing. It's my turn." she quietly replied, standing up. Her hand swiped from underneath Amethyst's, and she took her ball.
As Pearl performed her graceful roll, she got a strike as well. Literally almost everybody here has gotten a fucking strike except me. What're the odds. I rolled my eyes, and checked the score board to see whose name popped up next. It was Ame's turn. "Watch this, losers." she said, before her stubby little legs took her up to the lane quickly. She didn't even roll the ball. She actually just tossed the ball as she squatted dramatically. This ignorant move caused her to slip backwards, falling onto her ass.
Pearl immediately shot up from her seat, approaching the short girl. "A-Amethyst! Are you alright?!" she squawked, kneeling next to her. Amethyst only giggled, and sat up slowly. "I'm fiinnee, Pearl." she chuckled. I heard Lapis grunt, and I leaned to the side to get a better view of her expression. "Lapis... what is actually wrong?!" I whispered to her. "Nothing, Peridot! Just stop asking." she snapped, looking at me with... hurt eyes. It startled me at first, and I said nothing in reply.
I sat back in my seat, huffing. Pearl helped Amethyst up, and kissed her forehead. I cringed a bit myself at the sight... noticing how Amethyst looked way happier with Pearl than she ever did with me. It may have stung a little, but whenever I had thoughts like that, I just reverted back to thinking about Lapis, and how she treats me so much better. And how I love her more than I loved Amethyst I guess. I care so much about her... it's why I'm so worried about her now. She's upset about something. And it has to do with Pearl.
. . . .
"This is the second to last roll... watch as Peridot's tiny little legs tremble in fear. Feeling the eyes of hundreds of old judgemental ladies on her. Their breathing... so calm... it's almost menacing how judgmental their eyes appeared. Will she get the gutter?" Amethyst was playing commentator as I was preparing to roll the ball once again. I groaned loudly and rolled my eyes, tightening the grip on my ball. "Oooo she's sooo close... what will be her next mo-" "SHUT UP ASSHAT!!!" I snapped, whipping around to glare at Ame, who was merely a foot behind me.
I heard Pumpkin bark again, and I shushed her. I turned back around, and took a deep breath. I swung my arm back once again, and released it. I watched as the bright green ball rolled down the lane, colliding with my pins. There was one pin left. I covered my face with my hands as I made a screechy grunt noise, followed by a dry sob. "I was sooooo clooseee." I whined, trudging back to the ball return. "Very close." Garnet replied, with crossed arms.
With a burst of cool air, the bowling ball came rolling back in the ball return, and I reached down to grab it. I took it into my hands, and looked over at Pearl and Amethyst again. They were muttering things to each other, followed by Pearl's giggles, and Amethyst's smirks. I squinted my eyes, and turned around toward the lane again. I shook my head, and walked back up, aiming carefully for the very last pin in the middle. Everything was in slow motion as I rolled the ball once again. I watched very attentively as the ball was headed straight for the LAST PIN YES.
The ball swerved slightly and landed right into the gutter. "OKAY NOW THIS DAMN GAME IS JUST BREAKING THE LAWS OF PHYSICS!! WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!" I growled loudly, throwing my hands in the air angrily. Amethyst began to laugh her ass off, and Pearl chuckled. I groaned in embarrassment, storming back to my seat beside Lapis. She was as silent as she was nearly the entire game. Her arms were tightly crossed, and I scrunched up my eyebrows. Her bottom jaw jutted out slightly, so I could tell she was gritting her teeth behind her closed lips.
She seemed to be deep in thought as she stared off into space with tired-looking eyes. Her left eye twitched a little, and I swore her eyes even looked a bit glossy. "How are you two doing?" Garnet suddenly asked, and my head cocked to look over at her. "Us?" I asked, flickering my eyes over Lapis briefly. "Yeah. We haven't heard much about you two in a while." she stated. "Things have been good. I mean... for the short time period we've been together so far." I nervously chuckled, blushing.
"Yeah, it really hasn't been that long, huh?" Amethyst chimed, crossing her arms and grinning at us both. "It's been longer than our relationship was." I remarked, arching an eyebrow. "How long did you two go out for?" Pearl asked curiously. "Two months..." Amethyst murmured in reply. "Yeah, then you decided to cUrvE mE and go bang Pearl." I grunted. "Hey! I said I was sorry about that!" Amethyst replied, pointing at me. "Once a cheater always a cheater." I stated, closing my eyes. I interrupted Amethyst's stuttering with a laugh. "Amethyst. I'm joking-" "Guess you and Pearl have something in common." Lapis stated, causing us all to go silent.
"Wh-what?" Pearl asked, looking over at Lapis. "I said I guess you and Amethyst do have something in common." Lapis hissed through her teeth, now standing up. I grew anxious, and slightly scooted away from her. Fuck what's going on. "L-Lapis can you not ta-" "I WILL IF I WANT TO! YOU FUCKING CHEATER! YOU LIAR!" Lapis suddenly yelled, pointing a finger in Pearl's face. Pumpkin cowered in the backpack, while me, Garnet, and Amethyst watched in horror.
"L-Lapis Lazuli please don't do this here!" Pearl raised her voice, standing up as well. "Why?! 'Cause you're afraid of a little exposure?! You thought you could really hide this forever, didn't you?" Lapis's voice cracked.
