Chapter 55

"THAT DOG IS OUT OF HERE! SIR! GET BACK HERE!" Aquamarine demanded as she began to sprint towards Jasper. Jasper continued to chase after the dog, and Lapis and I looked at each other with panicked expressions. Lapis then looked forward again, and dashed after the screaming Brit. Jasper turned around and watched as Aquamarine charged toward him like a barbarian. "YOU'RE LETTING PUMPKIN GET AWAY!!" Lapis shouted, running faster.

Jasper shook his head, and switched his gaze back and forth. "Right! RIGHT!" he shouted as he began to run for the puppy again. Pumpkin was gliding down the hall nearly at the speed of light, and there were no signs of her stopping. I began to run after Lapis as the bluenette sped up angrily. "I TOLD YOU WE COULDN'T TRUST HIM WITH PUMPKIN, PERIDOT!" Lazuli growled, staring straight ahead. 

"Hey! Aquamarine isn't allowed to technically hurt our dog! Pumpkin will be okay!" I argued in a cracky voice, trying to keep up with her. "BUT SHE'LL TAKE HER AWAY! SHE'S GONNA BE BACK AT A POUND!" Lapis protested. One of our classmates stood in the doorway of his dorm with a ruler in his hand, measuring his door. "This is what happens when we can't even afford a fucking tape meas-AHH!!" his friend yelped as Aqua growled and ripped the ruler from the guy's grip. 

"Sorry!" I whimpered, staring at them for a moment as I continued running. "You didn't do anything!" Lapis grunted, sounding annoyed. "Wait! What is she doing with that ruler?!" I asked, speeding up. "THAT DOG IS GONNA GET SOME DAMN DISCIPLINE!" Aqua screeched, tightening her grip on the ruler. "HEY! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH OUR PUPPY!" Laz hollered, though slowing down. Turning corners tired me out, and so far we had turned about three. I heard Jasper yelp, and I looked ahead. Jasper had stumbled, and he fell forward face-first as Lapis simply ran around him. 

"You okay?!" I asked, though not stopping. "Fine!" Jasper called from the floor, giving a thumbs up. I ran around him as well, and Aquamarine was surprisingly fast. She was catching up to the dog, and I could hear Lapis panting now.

Lapis' POV:

I was growing more and more tired, and I groaned loudly as I was at the cusp of exhaustion. "C'mon, Lapis you're a swimmer! Run faster!" Peridot whimpered, and I grumbled, resisting the urge to glare back at her. I've never ran a fucking marathon. I screamed as Aquamarine eventually cornered Pumpkin, and raised her ruler up. Pumpkin trembled as she flinched, lowering her head. She prepared for the blow, but never received it, because I rammed myself into Aqua.

Aquamarine cried out in a shrill voice as I wrapped my arms tightly around her, taking her down to the floor. The ruler flew out of her hand, and she sprawled across the floor like a starfish. She landed on her face, and she screamed, most likely in pain or surprise. She groaned, not lifting her face off of the floor yet, and I slowly sat up. I released the shorter girl, and hissed in pain as I placed my hand on my neck. It must've twisted a strange way, because it was now hurting.

Peridot skidded to a stop, staring at us in utter shock. "Are you okay?!" Peridot asked urgently, giving me a worried expression. "I'm fine..." I grunted, rubbing my neck a little. I looked over at Aquamarine, who still hadn't lifted her face off of the floor. Ugh, what a baby. "Get up..." I groaned, rolling my eyes. She groaned in agony, and curled her fingers tightly. Pumpkin whimpered, slowly walking away from the corner, and hiding behind Peridot. "Is...she okay?" Peri asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Come on, get up you baby." I repeated, looking back down at Aqua. She ever so slowly lifted her head, and groaned again. She winced in pain, and propped herself up on shaky elbows. She turned to us, and my eyes widened, and I heard Peridot gasp. Blood was trickling down from Aqua's nostril, and she pursed her lips. She blinked a few times, and fully sat up. She placed a hand over her mouth, closing her eyes and grunting loudly. Peridot and I exchanged nervous glances. 

Aquamarine's eyes then shot back open, and they were wide as saucers. "Oh my god." she whimpered, as her mouth seemed to move quickly. She opened her mouth and raised her finger to poke her two....OH SHIT. Both of her front teeth were chipped, and her nose continued to bleed like crazy. "M-my....MY TOOTH! MY TEETH!" Aquamarine screamed, immediately climbing back to her feet. She looked around urgently, pacing back and forth. "WHERE'S THE PIECES?! WHERE ARE THEY?!" she demanded, walking faster.

"Uh oh..." I heard Jasper say, and I turned around to see him standing behind Peridot. "My NOSE! BLOODY HELL IT HURTS! MY TEETH! MY..." she then slowly turned around to face us once again. I folded my hands behind my back, and looked everywhere but her. "YOU!! YOU!!!" she yelled, storming towards me. I took a step back, and raised my eyebrows. "THIS IS YOUR FAULT!! YOU ASSAULTED ME!!" she screeched in my face, and my eyes widened even more. "I-it was an accident! I swear! I didn't mean to chip your teeth Aqua! Honest!" I assured, raising my hands up in defense.

"This is a punishable offense, Lapis Lazuli. You and I are both adults." she stated coldly, and I took another step back. I looked over at Peridot, who looked like she wanted to do something, but was frozen in place. Pumpkin remained hiding behind her quietly. "I'm sorry! P-please I just...I didn't want you to hurt her!" I justified, referring to Pumpkin. "You better have a backup plan for your future, Lazuli. Because your arse is going to be out of this school by tomorrow morning." she hissed through her teeth as her glare pierced through my soul. My shoulders tensed up, and I felt my blood run cold.
