"You heard me!" I squinted my eyes at my mother. I turned back to Lapis, and it became a bit harder to take full breaths. "L-Lapis I want you to marry me! Please! Th-there's no one else I could see myself spending the rest of my life with!" I insisted, squeezing the bluenette's hand. Lapis' mouth gaped open, and she only stared down at me with the same shocked expression. "You can't do that!" my mother raised her voice.

"Please, Lapis! Will you marry me?!" I asked once again, giving her the most pathetically pleading eyes I could muster. A few heartbeats passed, and Lapis looked away for a moment. "Y-yes, Peridot...I will marry you." she stated shyly, still looking away. I then hopped in the air, laughing victoriously. I slipped the fake ring onto Lapis' ring finger gently, and turned back to my mother. "You can't do anything about it!" I shouted.

"You can't possibly get married this young, Peridot!" she protested, throwing her hands in the air. "Oh yes I can! And I will!" I argued, pointing a finger at her. "What is with all of the commotion down here?!" we then heard Lapis' mother's voice call from the top of the staircase. All of our gazes switched over to her, and I felt a bit more nervous now. "Blue! Our daughters are claiming they can get married before us!" my mother replied angrily. "Can you please rephrase that?" Lapis asked in a squeamish tone.

"What?! That's impossible! Lapis Lazuli, do you realize how young you are?" Blue then scolded, storming down the stairs. "I don't care! That's not your decision!" Lazuli argued, taking a step forward. "You're insane, Peridot!" Squaridot then chimed in, and I glared at her. "I agree with your sister! You two will split up right this instant!" my mother commanded, and I scoffed. "Who are you to order me and my fiance around?!" I asked, crossing my arms. "Your MOTHER!" my mother hollered.

"We are both legal adults. We are also mentally adults! We know how to make our own decisions!" I hissed, balling my fists. "Preposterous!" was all my mom could say in response. "In fact, we'll be scheduling our wedding right now!" I claimed, taking Lapis' hand in mine tightly."No! You know what? Then we shall get married next week!" my mother replied, and I furrowed my eyebrows. "Next week?!" Blue then asked, looking over at her fiance. She turned to Blue, and nodded firmly.

"We will be married this week!" I piped up, squeezing Lapis' hand tighter. I could spot Lapis looking over at me in surprise through my peripheral vision. "You are out of your mind, Peridot! You are not the daughter I raised!" my mother spat, and I pursed my lips. I lowly growled in my throat, keeping my glare firm. "The world doesn't revolve around you!" she then added. "The world doesn't revolve around you either, mom! We're getting married this week! I love Lapis, and I am not losing her as my significant other!" I stated.

"We'll just see how that turns out. You two will be divorced by next month." my mother said coldly, tipping her chin up cockily. "That's not TRUE!" I yelled, releasing Lapis' hand and walking after my mom. She had already began walking back up the staircase. I then grabbed her wrist, and her head whipped around to give me a nasty expression. "Unhand me. Right. Now." she hissed through her teeth. "N-no!" I tried to keep my voice as firm as hers.

I tightened my grip on her, and inhaled through my nose. "You're not gonna split me and Lapis apart. The world doesn't revolve around you. I am an adult. I am no longer your little girl that slaves away to your every command. I want. To be. Happy. Too." I growled, feeling tears prick my eyes slightly. My mother and I maintained an intense eye contact that lasted a whole minute. Her expression was cold and unchanging, and I tried my hardest not to tremble under her stare.  I had never stood up to my mother like this, and deep down inside, I began to regret it.

She then suddenly ripped away from my grip, and shoved me away. I stumbled backward, and I attempted to reach for anything in my grasp to catch me. I barely missed the railing, and my eyes widened as I felt myself inevitably falling. My mother looked a bit surprised now, and her eyes slightly widened. I caught a glimpse of my mother attempting to reach for me, before my back hit the sharp corner of the step.

I groaned loudly as I hit the first step, and I only continued to tumble down. I hit my head against the railing, and my vision became a bit blurry. My back eventually hit the floor, and not a second afterwards, so did my head. I blacked out, and I had no idea how long I had been out. I heard muffled voices yelling, then quieting down after what felt like hours. My eyelids felt heavy, like it was physically impossible to actually open them on my own. I wanted to tell someone to lift my eyelids for me, but my mouth couldn't move either.

It all felt like a terrifying sleep paralysis. After what felt like hours, and hours of dizziness and oblivion, my eyelids had become lighter. I slowly opened my eyes, and blinked a couple of times. My arm felt a bit heavy as I lifted it towards my face. I felt my nose, then my eyes for a moment. I didn't feel my glasses perched on my nose like they usually were, and I began to panic. "wh-where...where's my glasses..." I groaned, trying to sit up. "Whoa whoa, Peridot take it easy." I then heard Lapis' soothing voice tell me. My vision cleared up a little more, and of course there sat Lapis Lazuli right beside me.

My mother and Blue were standing behind Lapis, looking somewhat concerned. "Are you okay, Peridot?" Lapis urgently asked, and I grunted. "Y-yeah...I think so...h-how long was I out for?" I asked. "Like two minutes." Squaridot replied flatly. "Let's get you back to the room. We'll figure out all of this mess later." Lapis explained, turning to our mothers. I could tell she was glaring at them, because my mother shifted uncomfortably, despite her cold expression. Squaridot looked annoyed to say the least, with her arms crossed tightly. "This isn't something new. Peridot is constantly falling. That's how she's always been." she then stated, rolling her eyes.

"I didn't fall this time. I was pushed." I corrected her, looking to my mom. My mother then turned away, and started back up the stairs, holding Blue's hand. I fully sat up, and shook my head gently. I exhaled, and felt my head start to throb. "C'mon. Be careful." Lapis then murmured quietly, helping me back up onto my feet. She took me back to the room, and I softly sat on my bed. Lapis shut the door, and sighed as she stood in front of me. She looked concerned, and then peered over at the wall. Her eyes then flickered down to the ring on her finger, and then she closed her eyes. "Peridot...what have you done?"
