Jasper's POV:
Once we got all of her stuff settled in, I huffed and placed my hands on my hips triumphantly. "Are you sure you don't need anything else?" I asked, turning my head to look over at Lapis. "Yes. I don't even need to be HERE." she replied, looking down."Nonsense, Lapis. You can stay here as long as you want. You know I don't mind." I assured."I know you don't mind. But what about others? I'm not even a student here anymore! This is illegal." she explained.
"Ah shut up. It'll be our little secret." I stated, fixing my bed. "Until someone finds out." she scoffed, crossing her arms. "I could take you back to that nasty ass motel right now." I turned to glare at her. "Please do." she said, sitting in my desk chair. I rolled my eyes and grunted loudly, turning back to my bed. "Quit being like that." I groaned.
There was a long silence between us as I continued to fix the bed. "So where am I even gonna sleep?" she suddenly asked. "One of these beds of course. Or you could always share with me if you feel lonely." I chuckled. I bristled as I felt a pillow hit the back of my head. "HEY I'M ONLY JOKING!" I shouted, trying not to laugh. "What about your roommate?" the bluenette then asked. "Bah, I don't have a roommate." I replied quickly, waving it off.
"So, you just have two separate beds? For yourself?" she arched an eyebrow. "Yup. Some nights, one bed is more comfortable than the other." I explained, gesturing to the mattresses. "I'll be sure to give up the more comfortable bed for you tonight." I grinned. "How generous." she deadpanned, rolling her eyes. "And you have two keys as well?" she questioned, peering over at my desk, which had two room keys. "I always need a spare one. What if I lost mi-" my excuse was cut off by the sound of the doorknob jiggling.
My stomach lurched, and I felt beads of sweat form on my forehead. "Where the hell's my key?" I then heard a voice mumble on the other side of the door. Lapis then hummed skeptically, staring at me. I darted to the door, and pressed my back against it firmly. "WRONG ROOM!" I yelled. "Jasper? Did you take my ke-" "NO I DUNNO HOW YOU KNOW MY NAME STRANGER, LEAVE NOW!" I shouted, anxiously grinning at Lapis. Then there was louder knocking on the door, and I lowly grumbled.
"I HAVE NO ROOMMATES, NOW LEAVE!" I yelled louder. Silence then followed, and I sighed in relief. I stepped away from the door, and cleared my throat. "That was pretty fuckin' weird, right?" I nervously chuckled, dusting myself off. "I need to go." Lapis then said, and my fake grin dissipated. "Wait wait, why?!" I asked. "We're both gonna be in major trouble." she muttered anxiously. "No we won't, Lapis! Please just trust me on this! I'll make sure you won't get caught." I tried to reassure her.
"Peridot and I trusted you to make sure our puppy didn't get caught. Guess what happened?" she then started glaring at me, and I shifted uncomfortably. "Puppies are different! If we both work together, we can pull this off!" I explained. "I DO NOT. Need to hear those words again." she suddenly snapped. I looked at her in pure confusion, but she only turned away and wrapped her arms around herself.
"What happened, Lapis? Seriously, what the fuck happened?" I asked again. "I said it's none of your business! It doesn't matter anyway. The past is the past. I left, and Peridot probably doesn't even wanna see me again anyways." she grumbled. "Hey, don't jump to conclusions. Why do you think Peridot was crying? Probably 'cause she misses you!" I said. "She's just upset." Lapis flatly replied, avoiding eye contact with me. "O-oh..." was all I could muster.
"We're not friends, Jasper. We may have hugged at the hospital, but it doesn't mean I've forgiven you." she stated coldly, walking over to the other bed. "You're acting like I was the only problematic one in the relationship." I said, squinting my eyes. "Ugh, that's not what I'm saying. You don't have to forgive me either. But it seems like you did already, offering to help me and such." she explained. "I just wanna help you, Lapis. Well, you and Peridot. She's my sister after all. You may think I'm makin' up this scheme to get you back somehow, but I'm not. I really just...you look tired." I said in a soft tone of voice.
Lapis stared at me for a good thirty seconds. She then turned away from me completely, and laid back into the bed. She curled up, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Goodnight, Jasper." she deadpanned, though I heard a slight crack in her voice. I sighed feeling defeated, and just approached the light switch. I flicked it off, and entered the bed slowly. I sighed, and laid back, staring up at the ceiling. She's secretly grateful...I know she is.
Peridot's POV:
I kicked my desk harshly before dragging all of the contents on it onto the floor. I took off my glasses and rubbed my eyes roughly. I groaned loudly, and frowned intensely. I balled my fists and stared at my blank wall angrily. Jasper's probably using his charm on her right now, I thought. Why do things have to be this way? What if they're making OUT? Ugh, who am I kidding? They're probably FUCKING. I groaned loudly, covering my face with my hands. I need to do something about this.
