"Mom?!" I asked, now even more frightened. "Lapis! LAPIS?!" Blue then raised her voice a bit in utter surprise. "What're you doing with Peridot's mom?! What happened to dad!?" Lapis then asked, taking a step forward. Pumpkin seemed to get increasingly nervous. "Lapis Lazuli how are you friends with someone like Yellow's daughter?!" Blue then shot back.
"We were roommates!" I then chimed in. "Oh my god, they were roommates..." Blue groaned, running her fingers through her hair and turning the other way for a moment. "Lapis, how did you manage to get into such a high-standard college on your own?!" Blue then asked, and Lapis looked offended for a second. "Because I am not the dumb little bitch you always told me I was!" the bluenette snapped. "I never said that!" Lapis' mother protested. "Wait let me get this straight, my daughter's friend here, is your daughter?" my mother then turned to her.
"Unfortunately." Lapis grunted, tightening her arms around Pumpkin. "I don't see what the huge problem is, my dear Peridot." my mom then turned to me. "You guys can't get married! We'll be SISTERS!" I raised my voice, throwing my hands in the air. "Again, I don't see the problem. You two are friends, right? It'll be a fun experience." my mother insisted, folding her hands together.
"Mom, no. I... she...." I trailed off, looking down at my feet. "What? Out with it, young lady!" my mother demanded impatiently. "Lapis...is my girlfriend. The one I told you about." I muttered. "Girlfriend?! Why did you lie about her on the phone then?" mom looked at me surprised, crossing her arms. "I am sorry. I panicked. But you two can't get married!" I whimpered. "And since when do you control our decisions, young lady?" she then asked, arching an eyebrow.
"I...u-uhhh..." I squeaked. "You never told me you were gay." Blue then stated, looking over at Lapis. "You never told me YOU were gay." Lapis dead panned. Blue looked taken aback, and squinted her eyes. "There's a lot I haven't told you." Laz grumbled, looking away from her mom. "You two are mere teenagers in puppy love. We are adults in a committed relationship." my mother then claimed. "Teenagers?! We are adults too mom!" I protested angrily.
"With all due respect to Lapis' mother, I cannot have her be my MOTHER-IN-LAW if she's already dating my mother!" my voice cracked, pointing at my mom. It was dead silent for a moment, and I side glanced Lapis. Lapis' whole face was a deep shade of red, and it took me a few seconds to realize what I just said. "I-I that's not-uh I mean hypothetically of course! I think? E-either way even without marriage it is still weird!" I argued, feeling more flustered than before. "That is enough! We are engaged, and that is final." my mother finally snapped, furrowing her eye brows and glaring at me.
"So, you're into negligent abusive assholes. I see your type." Lapis then said, furrowing her eyebrows as well as she looked at my mother. "HOW DARE YOU, LAPIS LAZULI!" I then heard my mom's fiance shout for the first time. Lapis then shot her death glare over to her own mother. "My own daughter!" Blue scoffed. "I am damn well ashamed to be. Don't you dare even call me your daughter out loud after what you've done to me!" Lapis growled.
"I have done nothing but care for you, Lapis!" Blue argued. "That is not true! You were an abusive, neglecting BITCH!" Lapis shouted. I placed a hand gently on Lapis' shoulder, and looked down at Pumpkin. Pumpkin was already nearly shaking. "Lapis, tone it down a bit, okay?" I whispered. "No! She is the sole reason I have the majority of my issues now!" Lazuli pointed at Blue, and Blue's mouth gaped open. "You ungrateful little brat!" Blue stepped forward, deepening her glare.
They were now both glaring at each other, and me and my mother both looked at each of them back and forth. The resemblance was definitely there, both of them having equally scary expressions on their faces. I approached Lapis, and reluctantly took Pumpkin out of her arms. Lapis looked like she wanted to protest for a moment, yet did not break her stare. Pumpkin nearly clung to me, and I stared at the two anxiously. "Lapis, I gave you the best life possible for our circumstances." Blue finally said.
"Keeping me trapped and isolated from everything definitely is the ideal parenting skill." Lapis growled sarcastically. "Not to mention giving me a new reason every day to hate myself. You did this! You hurt me, mom!" Lapis' voice cracked. "I did none of the sort! You did it to yourself!" Blue argued. "I was hoping I'd never see you again. Just my luck." Lapis muttered, finally looking away. Me and my mother exchanged confused glances, and I held onto Pumpkin tighter.
"Dear...is there a reason you never told me about your daughter?" my mother finally asked, and Blue closed her eyes. "N-no, Yellow. The subject just never came up." Blue quickly dismissed it, opening her eyes again to look at Lapis. Lapis crossed her arms and refused to look back at her mother, and the awkward tension was suffocating. "Why are you two even here?" Blue finally asked. "Well, Peridot came here to introduce me to Lapis. They actually want to stay here for a bit." my mom explained. "Stay?! Here?" Blue looked surprised once again.
"Indeed. I'll just leave it in your hands now, dear." my mother replied, looking incredibly indecisive nonetheless. Blue was silent for a very long moment, and looked between Lapis and I. "Well. Since they are both our beloved daughters, I'll allow it." she stressed the 'beloved' in an unpleasant manner. "Really?! After..." I decided to just keep my mouth shut instead, but this definitely was baffling. "I'll be upstairs. " Blue stated very coldly, and I felt uncomfortable and unsettled to say the least. We all watched in silence as she nearly glided up the staircase.
