The employees at the front counter of the bowling alley thankfully didn't ask about the backpack. I patted my backpack gently, preparing to open it a bit more once we got down to the lanes. Lapis held our bowling shoes, and I spotted Amethyst handing Garnet two large bowling balls. Pearl sat on one of the lane chairs as she was setting up the score calculator on the screen above them. "Amethyst!" I called, walking towards them.
Amethyst turned her head to look over at me, and she grinned widely. "P-dot!!!" she shouted, approaching me eagerly. Lapis followed me close behind and set the shoes down on the floor. "'Sup Lapis!" she greeted, nodding at the bluenette. Lapis cocked her eyebrows in response, and I set my backpack down on one of the seats. "Glad you two could make it. We're about to start the game." Garnet stated, handing Pearl a bowling ball. Lapis approached the racks and grabbed a dark blue bowling ball. I walked up behind her and peeked over her shoulder.
"You want me to get you one?" Laz asked. "N-no I can do it!" I quickly replied, walking around Lapis. I bent down to pick up the bright green ball on the bottom rack. I placed my hands on it, and as soon as I started lifting it up, it felt like gravity had just spanked me. I yelped as I nearly fell forward, but luckily caught myself in time. I dropped the ball back onto the rack, and exhaled sharply. "Is that one too heavy?" Lapis asked, snickering. "N-NO that one's just slippery!" I growled, quickly looking for a lighter ball. There was a ball with a 5 on it, and I chuckled victoriously.
I grunted as I grabbed it and turned around. Lapis stood there with crossed arms, staring at me with an amused expression. I felt my cheeks heat up, and I speed walked past her grumbling. I placed the ball down for a moment, and reached over to my backpack. I unzipped it, and out popped Pumpkin's small head as she barked. I placed my hand down on her snout and shushed her. "What the hell was that?" Amethyst asked, twitching an eye. "Shh! It's our puppy. The workers can't know we have her here." I explained in a whisper. Lapis walked up to the backpack, and started patting Pumpkin's head.
"Alright Peridot, I set you first... as requested by Amethyst." Pearl said, looking over at me. I slipped on the bowling shoes, and picked my ball back up. I internally cringed at how many different people probably put their feet into these things, but I shook the thought away. "Woo! Go Peridot!" Amethyst shouted, and I rolled my eyes, approaching the line.
I concentrated hard, and swung my arm back slowly. I took about three steps before swinging my arm forward about to release the ball. "aAaaaAAAA!" I heard a voice screech, and my arm jerked forward way too hard. I yelped as I stumbled forward violently, watching the heavy ball tumble toward the gutter. "NO!" I yelled as the bowling ball rolling in the gutter passed all 12 of the pins without knocking a single one down. I growled lowly as I turned on my heel and faced the others with a glare.
Amethyst was laughing her ass off, Lapis sat there with a large grin, Pearl sat with a small smile, and Garnet sat in silence. I assumed it was Amethyst who screeched, and I rolled my eyes once again. "You have a second try, Peridot." Pearl said, shrugging. I went up to the ball return, and the ball eventually rolled out. I picked it back up, and walked back up to the lane. "No more screaming!" I growled at them, then turned back to face forward. I swung my arm forward and released the ball too early as the echo of a bark startled the crap out of me. I dry sobbed as I watched the ball bounce off the floor, and clunk into the gutter once again.
I sighed harshly, and my arms dropped to my sides. I turned back around, and stared at the puppy. "Hey it wasn't us this time." Amethyst said, shrugging. I shook my head, and plopped into a seat. Garnet was up next, and she walked up to the lane. "So, if they don't let dogs here, why didn't you just leave the dog at the dorms?" Amethyst asked, resting her chin in her hand. "Aquamarine heard her bark and got all pissy since it's against campus policy or whatever." Lapis replied.
"I told you guys someone was going to find out sooner or later." Pearl chimed in. I huffed, and tilted my head. "It is impressive how you managed to get the puppy in the dorms in the first place." Garnet said, walking away as the bowling ball knocked all 12 pins down. "Ugh, but that's not what I was mainly pissed about. She always seems to be nosing in everybody's business but her own." Lapis explained with a huff. "Well, that's Aqua for ya." Pearl muttered, turning to the lane.
"She actually wasn't always like that, though." Amethyst added, clasping her hands together. "What do you mean?" I asked, turning to her. "I mean, she wasn't always up everybody's asses about the school rules and stuff." she explained. "Well I don't remember her being anything else. How long has she been like that?" I asked. "Since about 10th grade or so..." Ame replied. "How do you remember that specifically when you can't even remember what you had for breakfast this morning?" Garnet remarked with a chuckle.
I snickered, and Amethyst giggled. "Well, it was the year Pearl and I got together...and you know I can't forget that." Amethyst smirked, pointing at Pearl. Pearl's pupils shrunk, and her face darkened at least three shades of red. She looked absolutely shocked and taken aback, and I only laughed in response - hAhA yAuHp i wAs cHeAtEd oN iN tEnTh GraDe. "Whoa P, no need to get so embarrassed, damn!" Amethyst snorted. "She's practically a tomato!" I giggled, pointing at her still very flustered face.
When Pearl's expression still remained the same, I grew a bit confused. Why was she so embarrassed and mortified by this? I looked over at Lapis to see her reaction, and my amused expression dissipated. Lapis's mouth gaped open, and her eyebrows were scrunched up. Her eyes pierced through Pearl, and Pearl's eyes darted back and forth seemingly anxiously. Huh?!
