"I...uhm..." I looked away, and placed my hand over my other arm. "...Lapis?" Peridot's hopeful expression began to slowly fade. "I'm getting expelled, Peridot. I have to be outta here by 9 AM tomorrow." I muttered shamefully. "You're...getting kicked out? Th-that's ridiculous!" she raised her voice, furrowing her eyebrows. "Chancellor White is not a force to be reckoned with..." I murmured. "This is all Aquamarine's fault! I wanna punch her." Peridot huffed, crossing her arms.
I then raised an eyebrow, staring at her for a moment. "Wait no, I wanna get her so angry, that she punches me, and she gets kicked out too!" Peridot corrected, glaring. "I'd never let someone punch you for the sake of revenge for me...if that made sense." I said, wrapping my arms around her. "Lapis...I'm gonna be alone here. I might even get a new roommate. And I don't want a new roommate... I... " she trailed off as her voice muffled in my shirt. I rested my chin on her head, and closed my eyes.
"I don't wanna leave either. I was so stupid. I should've never even went after her." I said. "But then what about Pumpkin? She would've been beat! You did the right thing... " she replied. "But I shouldn't have fucking tackled her." I argued. "She's just a fragile baby. She probably purposely landed on her face to screw it up." Peridot protested. I giggled, but my smile faded as soon as it came.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do." I whispered, feeling anxious. "Any way you could just call your parents or something?" Peridot then asked. My eyes opened back up, and I furrowed my eyebrows. I stared off into space for a moment, not saying anything. My grip on Peridot slightly loosened, and I held my breath for a few seconds. "...Lapis?" I then heard her squeak, and I blinked. I breathed again, and softened my stern expression. "...no. I'm not calling them." I deadpanned.
"I have a job." I added. "But Lapis, it's not a high enough pay to get you a decent place." she whimpered. "Who said it has to be a frickin' two story house? I could just get an apartment, Peri." I said, shrugging. "W-wait why don't we just get a place together?!" Peridot then suggested. "I have a job! I make robonoids and sell 'em!" she added hopefully. "But Peridot that's not a consistent job. Sure, you make a lot of money, but you never know exactly when you'll receive a check." I explained, sitting down on my bed.
"It'll be enough! I just..." Peridot quickly approached me again. Her gaze slowly trailed downward, and she looked ultimately conflicted. I placed my hand softly on her cheek, and her face further leaned into it. "I'm sorry this happened...if I hadn't even gotten a puppy in the first place, none of this would've happened." she sighed, and my thumb slowly stroked her cheek. She looked back up at me, and her soft green eyes were filled with sadness. "It was all just inconvenient timing...no one is to fully blame for this, Peridot." I said quietly.
"Ugh...I wanna leave this university now..." Peridot muttered. "I really wish I could...but I just can't." she looked ashamed. "It's okay, Peridot. I would never let you leave this university just for me. It was hard to get into this university for the both of us...I wouldn't ever wanna throw away all of your hard work to get here." I explained. "I'm just gonna miss waking up to you laying beside me every morning...coming back to my dorm to find you sketching those beautiful drawings of yours...or just laying there...being beautiful." Peridot started giggling at the last part.
"God, you're cheesy as hell." I snorted, ruffling her blonde hair. "Seriously though, I don't have to live on campus. Why can't we just share rent?" she asked. "Again. Your job is a bit different from mine. You don't know when you'll be receiving an order. Therefore, sometimes I'd probably have to pay full rent." I replied. "But I'd pay you back! When I'd get the checks I'd pay for the whole month! You wouldn't owe me a single penny!" she insisted.
I was thinking deeply for a moment, and tilted my head. "Wait...remind me why you don't live back at home." I said. "Oh...my parents gave me the boot. Even though it's a fucking mansion and they have plenty of space." Peridot grumbled, looking down at the floor. Almost immediately after she said that, she gasped loudly. My eyes widened a little bit, surprised by her sudden mood change. "LAPIS THAT'S IT!" she then stood back up, grabbing my shoulders. "WH-WHAT?!" I was a bit startled now.
"MY PARENTS! If I can convince my parents to let me move back in, I could maybe convince them to let you crash for a little while too! We have plenty of rooms!" she squealed. "P-Peridot there's a slim chance they'll let you go back home. I highly doubt they'd let me stay there as well." I protested. "C'moonnn, it's worth a try, right?! At least 'til you get your life figured out!" she said, now pacing back and forth. "Peridot, you do realize if this doesn't work I'm gonna be homeless tomorrow right?" I replied hastily. She then shushed me as she pulled out her phone.
