-The Next Day-

We were standing outside in the early morning breeze, waiting for Greg to give us the keys to his van. He said that we could borrow his van for the camping trip, so it would be more spacey for everyone. "Alrighty guys, gimme one sec..." he muttered as he was digging in his pockets for the keys. I was sluggishly holding my backpack in one hand by one of its straps, and Lapis stood next to me with her duffel bag in her hand. Amethyst, Pearl, Squari, and Garnet were standing out there with us too.

"Ah! Got 'em!" Greg said as he pulled the keys out of his right pocket and tossed them to Amethyst. "AW YEAH I'M DRIVIN'!!!" Amethyst shouted, catching them in her two hands. "Correction: I'm driving." Pearl said, as she snatched the keys out of Amethyst's hands. "Aww, you're no fun, P." Amethyst grumbled crossing her arms. Pearl playfully ruffled Amethyst's hair, and walked over to the van unlocking it. Lapis glanced over at me with a cute look and I blushed.

She then walked over to the van and used her strong arm to open the iffy sliding van door. "Ladies first." Lapis said jokingly, stepping aside to let me in. I giggled, and hopped into the van, scooting to the very end so Lapis could get in too. I set my backpack down at my feet and the bluenette stepped into the van. She plopped onto the seat and dropped the duffel bag at her feet. I looked over at Lapis and tried to see the expression in her eyes through her aviator sunglasses. She then looked over at me and I quickly looked away.

"'SCUSE ME GUYS!!!" Squari shouted as she climbed into the van as well, climbing to the back back of the van. She shoved her body in between us and climbed over our seat. Her foot kicked me in the shoulder, and I lowly growled. "Squari you can just get in through the back doors ya know!" I groaned. She ignored me.  Squari's ass was right in Lapis's face, and she looked extremely uncomfortable. Lapis's dark eyebrows furrowed, and she just adjusted her sunglasses, looking away. Squari finally fell over into the back behind us, leaving us be.

"I CALL SHOTGUN!!!!" I heard Amethyst shout from outside the van. "You're supposed to call shotgun before anyone else gets into the van, Amethyst." Garnet said, but the short girl just ignored. She excitedly hopped into the passenger seat next to Pearl, who was in the driver's seat. Garnet climbed into the back back through the BACK DOOR, unlike Squari did. My sister is so fucking extra I swear to god. "Everyone buckled in and ready?" Pearl asked, looking at us through the rearview mirror.

Everyone nodded and gave the okay for Pearl to start driving, so she did just that. She started it, and we were off. Lapis looked out the window, and rested her elbow on the car door, resting her chin in her hand. I smiled as I got to further study her beautiful features. The window she was looking out displayed the sunrise, and she looked gorgeous in front of it. So I decided to be slick, and pull my phone out real quick. I clicked on the camera and held it up, and the way the orange sunlight gleamed on Lapis's face and reflected off of her sunglasses was pure aesthetic.

I took the picture, but I forgot to turn the sound off, so it made the 'click' sound when I pressed the button. I felt myself freeze as I heard the sound. Lapis turned her head and looked over at me, then at the phone in my hand, still pointed at her. All the blood rushed to my cheeks, and my hand started to tremble. "Did you take a picture of me?" Lapis asked, smirking and raising an eyebrow. "WHAT?! NO I DON'T KNOW WHAT--UHM UH-I NO I WELL UHM NO OUU I EGHEH--" I yanked my hand down to bring my phone down, but it slipped from my fingers and went flying right toward my face.

The phone hit me in the forehead and I thrashed with a 'GYAAAHHH!!!'. "Yeah she took a pic of you. I saw it with my own two eyes!" Squari chimed in from the backseat. "You can only see out of one eye!" I remarked, rubbing my forehead. "Do you think we're gonna see those weird-ass skin walkers everyone's talking about in the forest?!" Amethyst piped up. "Oh please, Amethyst. There is no such thing." Pearl replied with a scoff. "There better not be cows." Garnet's quiet voice was heard from the back.

"If there are weird-ass skin walker creatures in the forest, I'll use my martial art skills to fight 'em off!" Squari bragged, looking at her nails nonchalantly. Oh brother. "Duuuude that would be hella cool to watch!!!" Amethyst said loudly. "What're you excited for, Lapis?" Squari asked, peeking her head over our seat. I felt like shoving her face back into her own seat. "The view's gonna be pretty great...nice and quiet out there. Also the lake." Lapis replied. "Me too!!!" Squari said, smiling. I will slap that smile off your face. Begone t h o t.

The next hour or so consisted of weird conversations about creatures, gay vampires, who would be the better kind of food, murderers and other shit. Lapis and I were pretty silent for the trip, while Squari kept piping in over us right in our ears. I resisted the urge to punch her in the face after the 30th time she did it and it was not easy. Amethyst then blasted some rock music and now there was a lot of head-banging and blowing of ear drums. 'Beautiful People' by Marilyn Manson then started playing and they were screaming the words.

"HEY!! YOU!! WHADDAYA SEE?! SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL OR SOMETHING FREE?!! HEY!!! YOU!!! ARE YOU TRYNA BE MEAN?! IF YOU LIVE WITH APES MAN, IT'S HARD TO BE CLEEEAAAN!!!" they screamed, and I looked over at Lapis, who was slightly bobbing her head to the terrifying sound. The song legit sounded like something straight out of a serial killer horror movie. But I didn't let them know I thought that, so I just kept a straight face and sat there in silence. At this point, Lapis was mouthing the words to it, and I just looked at her in awe. I had no idea she even liked music like Marilyn Manson's, but, ya know you learn something new everyday I guess.

We finally arrived at the camping site, and Pearl stopped the car, therefore stopping the music. Oh thank god my ears.
