Chapter 35

I told Lapis that I had to run a quick errand. It took a while to keep her cool because of the last time I wouldn't tell her where I was. While I was driving to my destination, I kept thinking of whether this was a good idea or not. It can result in ultimate disaster. What if she doesn't want it? Buuuut there's a chance she'll be fucking thrilled about it. But what if she's not?! Takes a lot of work too...what am I getting myself into? 

I arrived at the place, and slowly got out of my car. I walked as slow as possible, making sure that I was positive about this. I shakily raised my hand up to the door, and carefully pushed it open. I hesitantly stepped inside, and as soon as I took in the sight before me, I made my decision. I'm totally fucking doing this. The barks and squeals of dogs, and the meowing and purring of cats sounded the room. As well as the obnoxious clicking and squawking of birds, squeaking of hamsters, and a shit ton of other animals. 

I stepped over to the little space fenced off by toddler-proof fences. Five small wriggly puppies looked up at me, each one seeming as thrilled to see me as I was to see them. I grinned widely and bent over, patting one of the puppies' small heads. All of the puppies were either black, white, or both - except for one. One puppy had a gingerish color, and I found it very pretty. This particular puppy seemed to be the most excited to see me. It made a squeal-like noise, and repetitively licked my hand. 

I giggled as the small animal attempted to hop over the fence urgently. Definitely this one. "How can I help you today?" a boy suddenly asked, and I looked over to my right. He had black curly hair, and thick eyebrows. He was about my height, and he had a very genuine smile. His name tag read "Steven". Where have I heard that name before? "Uh, yeah hi...I was just lookin' at some puppies...I was wondering i-if I can have this one?" I shyly asked, pointing to the ginger one. "Of course! She's really sweet. You'll love having her around." Steven explained, grinning. 

Awww, it's a girl! "Hey girl!" I cooed, petting the small one's head gently. "I'll just need you to sign some papers. She's already gotten her vaccines...etcetera etcetera." the boy explained. "Perfect." I replied, smiling. After quite a while of signing papers and answering questions, I picked up the small baby BEAN. I held her closely with my left arm, and shook Steven's hand. "Thanks again! So we also have some supplies you may need for dog here, if you wanna shop for that now." Steven said. "Oh! Right! Yeah of course." I replied. 

This is gonna be expensive. I already paid 300 for this puppy. "Alright, let's see here...."I grabbed a cart, and set the dog into the baby seat of the shopping cart. "We'll get the essentials first...puppy food...a collar...leash...toys...dog shampoo...p-pee-pee pads? Okayyyy...?" I threw the items into the cart, and the puppy licked my nose. I flinched and giggled. "We'll let Lapis name you." I said, booping her wet nose. "Can't afford a kennel at the moment...which I'm pretty sure you're fine with..." I muttered to her, chuckling. 

Once I finished shopping, I loaded the car with the dog stuff, and took the puppy out of the cart. I carried her to the passenger side of the car, and set her down. I closed the car door, and hopped in through the driver's side. I started the car, and placed my hands on the steering wheel. "Why the fuck did I just do this..." I mumbled, glancing over at the tiny dog. She just stared back up at me, and we ended up staring at each other intensely. I groaned loudly and rested my head on the wheel. "How could I not?! I sure hope Laz likes you..." I said, giggling. The dog barked excitedly, and with that, we drove off.
