It's me again God,

Thank You that You are with me every moment —even as I sleep! You guide me as I read Your Word and set me on the right path in my life. I love the way that You know everything about me and You capture my attention through the things I am passionate about. The Magi or wise men from the east, studied the stars —that was their passion and so this was what You used to guide them to Bethlehem. I imagine that in their excitement to follow this very special star, they couldn't have realised the immense privilege they would have in coming to meet the Saviour of the world! Being so focused, they were not going to be outsmarted or sidetracked by King Herod, who was driven by jealousy at the very thought that a new king could threaten his reign:

"Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed."
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:7-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The wise men heard King Herod's request but went on their way —their eyes were only on the star that had reappeared to guide them. How special that the One who had hung the stars in space in the beginning during the creation of the heavens and earth, was the very One they would find as this special star finally stopped!

This very bright star was an unusual phenomenon that must have greatly excited these astronomers! The star had led them to the general area in the beginning but now was specifically guiding them —right to the place where Jesus lay! They were not just happy to have this guidance —they were overjoyed!

Thank You God for the way You guided the wise men to Jesus so long ago. The light of the star confirmed that they were heading in the right direction and then also alerted them to the fact they had reached their destination. In a similar way, the light of Your Word has guided me to You:

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You guide me each moment of my life as I keep my eyes on You, just as the Wise men followed the star.  The brilliance of Your light stands out in this dark world that is filled with evil:

"The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭27:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You Jesus for coming into the world to be my Light and my Salvation! Thank You that I do not need to live in fear but keep looking to You for guidance and help in every situation.  May the beautiful stars adorning Christmas trees all over this city, remind people that You came and may they know and understand the reason  why You came. May many come to You this Christmas and know You as their Light and Salvation!

In Your Precious Name,
Amen.
