It's me again God,
Just two days ago, I sang songs of worship and victory as I remembered that Jesus rose from the grave. It was a great celebration but it's easy to walk away from church and forget that the victory has been won over the enemy and that it impacts my day to day life greatly!
I believe You put this song in my heart for a reason and I want to spend a little time considering what You are saying to me:
Our fight is with weapons unseen
Your enemies crash to their knees
As we rise up in worship
When trials unleash like a flood
The battle belongs to our God
As we cry out in worshipThe victory is Yours
You're riding on the storm
Your name is unfailing
Though kingdoms rise and fall
Your throne withstands it all
Your name is unshakenIn my day to day walk with You, I am reminded that there will be troubles of various kinds but I don't need to be afraid. Even the psalmist knew this although he didn't have the great assurance we have in Jesus:
"With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies."
Psalm 108:13 NIVJesus, You told Your disciples that in You they could have peace. Thank You that the promise is the same for me today —I don't need to be afraid:
""I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.""
John 16:33 NIVThe cross reminds me that there is nothing against me —all my sins have been wiped out! Jesus, You disarmed the enemy and nothing is against me!
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."
Colossians 2:13-15 NKJVThis is so good to remember! I am so blessed! As I take communion here at home, I will remember all that Jesus won through His death on the cross:
"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
1 Corinthians 15:56-57 NIVThank You that I always start my day from a position of victory because You live in me through the Holy Spirit. I just need to remember that the battle that rages is not against me. Jesus, You have won the victory so that victory is mine too! This is my identity —I fight from victory not for victory! Anything that seems like a battle in my day, I need to remember that the victory is Yours just like David did:
"All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands.""
1 Samuel 17:47 NIVPlease help me to remember today that while there are evil powers at work in the spiritual realm, I am safe because I have Your covering. I am rising up in worship because I know the enemy hates it! I put on my armour each day and know that I am safe:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."
Ephesians 6:12-13 NIVI stand in Your Name Jesus,
Amen! You might like to look up this song on YouTube or iTunes - here is the rest of 'Victory is Yours' by Matt Crocker / Reuben Morgan / Brian Johnson / Ben Fielding:
What hell meant to break me has failed
Now nothing will silence my praise
I will cry out in worship
The walls of the prison will shake
The chain-breaking King will rise to save
As we cry out in worshipThe victory is Yours
You're riding on the storm
Your name is unfailing
Though kingdoms rise and fall
Your throne withstands it all
Your name is unshaken
Oh, it's unshakenYou roar like thunder
Nothing can tame
God, all-powerful, all-powerful
We pull down heaven
With shouts of praise
God, all-powerful, all-powerful
You roar like thunder
Nothing can tame
God, all-powerful, all-powerful
We pull down heaven
With shouts of praise
God, all-powerful, all-powerfulThe victory is Yours
You're riding on the storm
Your name is unfailing
Though kingdoms rise and fall
Your throne withstands it all
Your name is unshaken
