It's me again God,
What do You want me to know today? Teach me as I read Your Word. I am hungry! Thank You for the blessing of having Your Holy Spirit inside of me, giving me understanding and direction!
"Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits. These were his instructions: "Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them." They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them."
Mark 6:6b-13 NIV
It wasn't long before Jesus' new followers were ready to go out, preach, heal people and even drive out impure spirits! Being with You, learning from You and being anointed meant that they were fully equipped to serve in this way. I love the instruction to take nothing with them meaning they were going in faith!
I am very challenged to examine my own faith —am I ready to go where You send me? Would I leave everything to serve You? It must have been really amazing to have everything provided along the way and I am reminded that when I serve You, I don't need to worry about any of the little details because You have them all in hand! Lord I want to learn to travel light and to be very much in step with where You want me! Prepare me for service today! Team me up with a fellow believer so we can support each other as we go! Help me to remember that I go with Your authority and You will do the work of changing people's lives!
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
Thank You that just as You called and equipped Your disciples to spread the Word, You call and equip me! I can be sure You are with me all the way as I serve You today!
