33. Surrender Your Anxiety

It's me again God,

There is a dog next door who hates sirens! Every time an ambulance, police or fire vehicle is heard in the distance, he cries and makes the most mournful howl until he can't hear the siren anymore! I don't know if he does it because he is fearful but it makes me think about my own response to sirens and other signals that there is trouble somewhere. I have to admit to feeling fearful at times, especially when I know my family are out in traffic but I know You do not want me to live in fear!

The reality is that there is so much crime going on out there even in my community. The size of the population means there are accidents and disasters of various kinds that may touch us all at time to time but because I know You, I have assurance and find blessing in Your promises.

Thank You for this beautiful psalm which reminds me:

"God, you're such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You're a proven help in time of trouble— more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away. We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes, moving mountains and casting them into the sea."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1-2‬ ‭TPT‬‬

This is so powerful Lord! Right now an unexpected thunderstorm is rolling in. It's like the earth is quaking and shaking along with the Psalm! Thank You that I don't need to be fearful as jagged lightning flashes across the sky:

"For the raging roar of stormy winds and crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you. Pause in his presence"

Thank You that even the most terrible storm in life cannot erode my faith in You because You are there whenever I need You —You are more than enough!

"God has a constantly flowing river whose sparkling streams bring joy and delight to his people. His river flows right through the city of God Most High, into his holy dwelling places. God is in the midst of his city, secure and never shaken. At daybreak his help will be seen with the appearing of the dawn."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:4-5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I love the imagery of the constant flow of Your joy and delight! Thank You that in Your Presence is fullness of joy! (Psalm 16:11)

"When the nations are in uproar with their tottering kingdoms, God simply raises his voice and the earth begins to disintegrate before him. Here he comes! The Commander! The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side. The God of Jacob fights for us!

Pause in his presence Everyone look! Come and see the breathtaking wonders of our God. For he brings both ruin and revival. He's the one who makes conflicts end throughout the earth, breaking and burning every weapon of war."

Thank You for this powerful picture of You as the Commander, the One who makes conflicts end —the One who brings peace on earth. Why should I be anxious? You are on my side!

"Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth. Here he stands! The Commander! The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side! The God of Jacob fights for us! Pause in his presence"

Right now I surrender my anxiety and bring all my cares to You —the God above all the nations! I will stop my striving as I remember who You are. In any situation that arises I know that You will fight for me. I am so blessed to know that Your favour surrounds me:

"My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness." So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I'm weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me."

Thank You for the wonderful truths in Your Word that I intend to meditate on all day and share with others too!
