It's me again God,
Thank You Father for Your love for me, which I am reminded of every time I think of the Cross and all that You did in sending Your only Son into the world to take my punishment. Jesus I thank You for willingly dying for me but then rising from the dead in victory! Thank You for showing us how to live and love while You were here on earth.
The world has never seen anyone so loving ever since! Although I try hard, I am definitely not perfectly loving like You were! Lord bless me as I read more of Romans 12 as Paul talks about this topic of love.
"Let the inner movement of your heart always be to love one another, and never play the role of an actor wearing a mask. Despise evil and embrace everything that is good and virtuous."
Romans 12:9 TPT
Being insincere and just joking around seems to be deeply ingrained into our culture, as is wearing a mask and pretending to like people. Merely acting in a loving way is not enough! I love the way this translation talks of 'the inner movement of your heart', that place of truth and that's where love must come from. When I look at my life, I feel that I would be completely lacking in love if it were not for Your Holy Spirit in me, developing this fruit. Fill me today with Your Spirit so I can love others the way You do. I want to bring glory to Your Name and souls into Your Kingdom.
Today I will turn away from all kinds of evil and just cling to what is good. I need to be genuine in all I am doing and hold tight to those things with eternal value.
"Be devoted to tenderly loving your fellow believers as members of one family. Try to outdo yourselves in respect and honor of one another."
Romans 12:10 TPT
May I be devoted to others with authentic affection, just as members of one family. Help me to give preference to others showing deep friendship and honour. Lord it's a struggle in this 'me first' society where there is a strong 'every man for himself' mindset but with Your love in me, things are very different! I want to stand apart from what has become a very sad way to live. I want to show Your love Lord. It needs to be evident in my family life and church family life too and then perhaps all men will know that I am Your disciple. Help me with this pursuit!
