It's me again God,

I love this time with You more and more each day! Thank You for the coolness of the new morning and the chorus of birds speaking their own expressions of praise! The distant hum of cars tells me that it's later than I expected but I'm so thankful for the extra refreshing sleep You provided for me!

Today as I open Mark, please speak to me and help me to learn more about You Jesus. I am so grateful that I have these accounts to read and the rest of Your Word in the New Testament so I can understand the things that are to come. Your disciples had heard You speak of Your death and resurrection three times but it was still not clear to them what was going to be happening and what it meant for their future. Here it seemed like they were missing the real reason You came and their egocentric nature definitely appeared to be ruling their thoughts and words!

"Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. "Teacher," they said, "we want you to do for us whatever we ask." "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked. They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory." "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?" "We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared." When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.""
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:35-45‬ ‭NIV‬‬

James and John certainly knew how much You loved them Jesus or they wouldn't have been asking such a question in the beginning! While it made the others indignant, You just calmly explained that Your ways were not the ways of the world. I'm sure they didn't understand the nature of the cup they would finally drink but You needed to help them see that Your path to the cross was as a servant —One who gave everything up to bring us to our Father! Thank You Jesus for being the most outstanding picture of servanthood.

Everything about Your coming was about giving but when Your work here was done,   You finally went back to heaven:

"But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.""
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:69‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I am so excited to imagine You there Jesus and to know I will be with You forever!

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:4-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your amazing grace is truly something I give thanks for every day! Thank You for Your incredible love! I give my life as a daily offering in service to You, my Servant King!

In Your Name,
Amen.
