It's Me Again God 2

49. Help & Hospitality

It's me again God,

How wonderful it is to meditate on Your Word again as I get ready for this new day! I am so thankful for Your guidance through the inspired letter to the Romans. This chapter has some particularly important things to say about relationships and it's been good to slowly look at them this week:

"Take a constant interest in the needs of God's beloved people and respond by helping them. And eagerly welcome people as guests into your home."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:13‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Lord I pray that You would bless me with Your love for others, not just my own efforts to tick off the things mentioned in this verse.  With Your love in me, I can see the needs of others and respond by helping them. Thank You that this response comes from the overflow of love and interest You have shown in my life.

As I look back over my life as a believer, I can remember many times when fellow Christians have taken the time to show interest in me. Thank You for the many times I have received help from them, just as if Your very hands were reaching down from Heaven! Thank You for the blessing of those who have made a meal when I was sick and helped in a multitude of ways. Lord, help me to see the needs of others and prompt me to lovingly take action! May I be willing to give my time, efforts and money in order to help those in need.

Hospitality in the 21st century has become something You never intended. Impossible standards have been set by the secular world through media images of the perfect dinner party with elaborate table settings and gourmet dishes served for every course. While it's good to be creative and to do my best, it's not about me and what I can do but about showing Your love and just being hospitable. Help me to remember that I don't need to spend a ridiculous amount of time and money on a meal that is aimed at demonstrating my skills but rather on showing Your love for others.

Lord I pray that I would be willing to share my home with others and eagerly welcome them, not being concerned that I might not have the most contemporary furniture or the newest floor covering. Lord I just want to do my best without making it all about me.  Show me who needs Your love today.  Prompt me to who needs to be blessed by a meal or just a cup of tea or coffee.

"Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do."

Please help me not to get caught up in the ways of the world in regard to sharing with others and being hospitable. May I constantly seek to share the divine love within me, because:

"...the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit......"
