It's me again God,
I've often noticed that when I wake to gentle rain falling on my roof, there is an absence of morning songs from the local birds. This morning it seems very quiet —apart from the occasional warble of an enthusiastic magpie! Apparently, their lack of singing is because they are taking shelter from the rain and not drawing attention to where they are to prevent predators from finding them.
It's easy to be like a bird quietly taking shelter in the storms of life, afraid to offer up praise lest the enemy find out my location:
"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings."
Psalm 61:2-4 NIVWhen I take shelter with You during difficult days, I enjoy feeling safe but it isn't long before I am singing Your praises because when I worship You, it's then that I activate and release my faith.
"Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
Psalm 42:5 NIVTaking my eyes off the problem and onto You reminds me that the Son is still shining, even on cloudy, difficult days! I see how powerful and mighty You are and I am able to praise You. As I magnify You, my problems don't seem as bad after all! True joy and peace are wonderful fruits of Your Spirit in me and I can have these in abundance as I lift up Your Name in praise! I am overwhelmed by the gift of Your grace which is always sufficient through all situations I am in!
Thank You that I can reaffirm today that Your grace is sufficient for me! I'm still going to praise You in all kinds of weather because I have hope! The enemy will hear my praise and he will flee! You are faithful to help for You are my God! Whether I understand everything or not, with an answer or without one, I will praise You!
"Lord! I'm bursting with joy over what you've done for me! My lips are full of perpetual praise. I'm boasting of you and all your works, so let all who are discouraged take heart. Join me, everyone! Let's praise the Lord together. Let's make him famous! Let's make his name glorious to all."
Psalms 34:1-3 TPTIn Jesus' Name,
Amen.
