It's me again God,

Lord I am so thankful for Your intervention in my life each day! Yesterday I needed to walk a long way and I really felt as if I couldn't do it! My legs felt like I was walking through thick mud! To add to the degree of difficulty, my head felt dizzy and on the return journey, I had parcels to carry too.  The destination seemed like it was so far away, so I fixed my eyes on You and called out for help. Step by step You reminded me of verses from the Bible and then songs of praise came to my lips! Step by step, I relied on You to get me there and thankfully, we made it! I praise You and thank You that You saw me, heard my cry for help and really made a big difference in my day!

Today's reading from Mark tells of a man who also needed Your help and called out for mercy:

"Then they came to Jericho.  As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means "son of Timaeus"), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road."
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:46-52‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Nothing was going to stop Bartimaeus from calling out for mercy. I imagine he must have needed to cry out for help many times before to deal with his disability at a time when there were no special benefits given to him by the government. He was unperturbed when people around him told him to be quiet! They must have been surprised when Jesus stopped and asked them to call Bartimaeus! He clearly had heard about the Son of David's healing ministry and had faith to believe for a miracle.

Putting his cloak aside and jumping to his feet, Bartimaeus was ready to receive! It is interesting Jesus,  that while You clearly knew his need, You ask what he wants You to do for Him. In this You would hear what he was believing for. So many times I probably fail to ask specifically for things and You are just asking, what do you want? More and more as I read Your Word, I can see that You are just waiting for me to come to You in faith, as Bartimaeus did and said, 'I want to see'.

It would have been such a different story if this blind man had just sat and remained quiet as Jesus passed by.  Sometimes I feel like that's what I do because I get to a place of thinking where I accept the health issues I have instead of calling out toYou in faith! Bartimaeus wanted to be healed, he wasn't going to accept a life of blindness when Jesus was there! He didn't hesitate but jumped up and came to You straight away.

Jesus I come to You now saying I want to be made 100% well —it's what I am believing for today! When You heal, it is always 100% restoration! I believe that just as you healed Bartimaeus, You can heal me! I receive healing in Your Name and I choose to continue to follow You and serve You all the days of my life! By Your stripes I am healed!

Bringing glory to Your Name,
Amen.
