Beware of Endgame spoilers.

Just in case some of you haven't seen it yet.

You were sitting on the couch, your eyes were glued on the television screen when the news hit you hard like a truck. A gasp escaped your lips and you shook your head in disbelief.

The news of Thanos and The Avengers was all over the world, saying that the world was back into normal once again. And the missing people were home.

"Everything is going back to normal?"

You muttered under your breathe, not believing what you had seen on tv.

Then there was unexpected knock on your door. You frowned and wondered who would come to your house late at night. Fear crawled over your chest but you pushed it away and went to open the door.

The second you did it, you regretted right away. Your breath hitched when you saw him, standing in front of you, alive and safe.

"Stephen."

His name rolled out of your tongue like it was meant to be, making him smiled at you. Tears blurred your vision and you couldn't believe your eyes.

"The news was right... You're here."

You chuckled softly, a tear escaped your eye. Stephen nodded with a broad smile and you shut the door once he walked inside.

"Y/N, you're still as beautiful as always."

He whispered sweetly, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. You blushed crimson and let him caressed your face in his hands.

"Where have you been?"

You asked, tears started to pool in your eyes. Stephen had left you with so many questions five years ago and you just missed him so much.

"I'm sorry, darling. I'm home now."

He said gladly. He was standing close to you until you could feel his breath on your face. You missed him, you truly did.

"Stephen, I---"

You didn't manage to finish your words when Stephen closed the gap between you and him by kissing you on the lips. Tears streamed down your face as you felt his skin on yours. He was real, he was finally home.

He kissed you with so much love and passion. He had been waiting for this moment to come for five years, and now he got to be with you again.

"I love you so much, Y/N."

He whispered, but you stopped him when he was going to kiss you again. Confusion and worry filled his eyes when he looked at you. You backed away from him and shook your head.

"I'm sorry, Stephen. I--- I can't do this."

You looked down, ashamed of yourself. Stephen walked closer towards you, forcing you to look him in the eyes.

"Why?"

His voice almost made you cry. His heart was wrenched when you pushed him away like he was a foe.

"I'm sorry."

You apologised, trying to keep your tears at bay. Stephen knew something was wrong. Almost instictively, his eyes wandered around the house and his heart almost stopped when he saw a photo of you and another man hanging on the wall.

"I'm so sorry, Stephen."

Stephen felt a lump in this throat when his eyes landed on the photo. You looked so happy with that man, that was for sure. Your smile in the photo was genuine, and it broke his heart to know that there was someone else who managed to make you smile like that.

"What's his name?"

"Henry."

You said, almost in a whisper. Stephen nodded and smiled sadly at you.

"He seems like a good man."

You looked up at him and nodded. Stephen took a deep breathe and tore his gaze away from the photo.

"I'm glad to know that you're happy, Y/N."

You bit your lip when guilt started to wrap around your fragile heart. Stephen squeezed your shoulders and smiled.

"You don't have to feel guilty. You did the right thing by moving on."

His words comforted you like always. You couldn't help but cried. You loved him but you had to move on. Two years after he disappeared, you met Henry and everything started from that moment.

"I was devastated. He saved me. I love him, Stephen."

Your words were like knives stabbed deeply into his heart, but still, he gave you an assuring smile.

"Is he a doctor or---"

Stephen asked, trying to cheer you up a little bit. He knew he had to make the glum situation disappeared.

"He's a pilot."

"Oh, and I thought you had a thing for doctors."

He chuckled. You shook your head and grinned at him. Stephen planted a kiss on your head and you knew it was going to be the last time you see him.

"It's okay, Y/N. You deserve to be happy. I know you'll be happier with Henry."

He said, not allowing you to feel guilty over something that you shouldn't. Therefore, he had left you that night with a sincere heart. He never blamed you. You should be happy with or without him.

And when that one day, he walked pass a well-known restaurant and saw you with Henry, he knew you were going to be so happy. Stephen watched as Henry got down on his knee and proposed to you so romantically like in movies, just like how you would want it to be.

A smile appeared on Stephen's face when he could see the future that was waiting for you. There was no agony in your written fate, only joy and happiness along your way.

He would never wanted to change that.
