You chuckled as Clint yawned loudly, showing the others that he was getting bored. Natasha who sat next to you kept tapping her foot on the floor, trying to be patient. Thor was confused as he was trying to understand what was going on.
"No offense, but I'm getting bored."
Steve said, smiling at Tony and Bruce who were busy explaining about their new experiment. You held back your laughter when Tony glared daggers at the Super Soldier.
"Why do you guys need us here? I don't understand anything!"
Clint complained. You and Natasha nodded in unison at his words. Bruce looked at Tony, as if asking for his permission, and Tony gave him a nod.
"We're looking for a volunteer. We want to see if it works."
Bruce said, glancing at you who were smiling at him.
"So you want one of us to be your lab rat?"
Natasha arched her eyebrow. Tony shrugged his shoulders and gave Bruce a look.
"A volunteer. I mean, the experiment is not dangerous at all. Perhaps it will be useful for us in our next missions."
Bruce explained, trying not to scare his friends.
"You want to turn someone into a pocket-sized person, am I right?"
You asked. Bruce and Tony nodded. They were really excited to see how the experiment turned out.
"So who wants to be a volunteer?"
Tony asked and everyone kept their heads down. Clint even pretended to be asleep, while Thor was still as puzzled as ever.
"Pick me, pick me!"
You said willingly, a grin was plastered on your face. Both Tony and Bruce were surprised because he was not expecting you to be the volunteer.
"Y/N, are you sure? You're already small, we don't want to shrunk you even more."
Tony said, smirking at you. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms against your chest.
"Shut up, Stark. I'm trying to help."
Bruce looked at you in disbelief. Truth to be told, he did not want you to be a volunteer. He was afraid if something bad might happen to you. You meant something to him, even if you did not know it yet.
"We were hoping to get the mighty god to be a volunteer but nevermind, the tiny Y/N will do."
Tony kept teasing you, knowing that it would tick you off. You gritted your teeth and curled your hands in fists. The billionaire was trying to start a war with you.
"She's not tiny. She's a fun-sized person."
Bruce said, as he gave you a warm smile. Your gaze softened at Bruce, blush started to creep on your face. The others left the room with Thor being the last, he patted your back softly before leaving.
You looked at Bruce and Tony before smirking at them.
"So, when are we going to start?"
...
"Oh my god, you are so small!"
Clint squealed when he saw you on the table. You turned into a pocket-sized person that you could stand on a table. It was amazing, and you were happy that it worked.
Thor poked you with his finger, which made you fall. Bruce's eyes widen and he helped you up, before glaring at the God of Thunder who was apologising profusely.
"I can't believe it actually works."
Natasha muttered. Steve pondered something when he looked at you.
"How to turn her back into her normal size?"
Steve asked. His question was good, and you never thought about it before. You were too eager to help them. Well, mainly Bruce. You liked him too much, and you just wanted to impress him.
"Actually, we... We don't know."
Tony responded, a guilty smile was dancing on his lips. Bruce groaned and rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"WHAT?"
Everybody in the room was flabbergasted, and you were speechless. You looked at Bruce and Tony and shook your head.
"I'm stuck in this form now?"
You asked, silently cursing yourself for being a volunteer. When Tony nodded, you wanted to scream at him in anger but your rage disappeared once your eyes landed on Bruce.
Your favourite scientist had guilt in his eyes when he looked at you. Everyone was arguing about how to bring you back into your normal size. Bruce sat on a chair next to the table, a wistful sigh escaped his lips.
"Bruce, it's fine. You don't have to feel guilty."
Bruce gave you a small smile and nodded. He chuckled under his breath when you climbed up his shoulder and sat there.
"I know you'll figure the solution out soon. But for now... You have to help me."
You said, smiling at Bruce. You did not want him to feel bad about himself. Bruce knew he had to help you, now that you were extremely small.
Thus, you lived your life as a pocket-sized person for almost a week. Bruce helped you through it, with you being on his shoulder most of the time.
That day, you sat on a table while watching Bruce. He was working on how to turn you back into your normal size. Tony was nowhere to be found and your favourite scientist was getting tired.
Bruce huffed in annoyance as he failed again. It kept going on and he was exhausted. He wanted to stop but he could not. Not until he could bring you back into your normal life. Bruce would not want to leave the love of his life in that size forever.
"Bruce?"
You called out, slightly worried about him. Bruce did not hear you. He slammed his fist on the table, startling you. You jumped a bit, standing up from the table.
"Bruce, are you alright?"
Bruce looked at you, regretting his anger once he saw that you were frightened. He plopped down on his chair and gave you a sad smile.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. This is all my fault."
You frowned at his words. You shook your head and sent him a warm smile.
"Don't blame yourself, Bruce. I believe in you."
Bruce looked at you in disbelief.
"You.. You believe in me?"
A soft smile was painted on your face as you nodded violently, assuring Bruce that he was not guilty.
"I believe in you. Don't you believe in yourself?"
You tilted your head a bit, grinning at the scientist. You climbed up his shoulder and it calmed him down.
"Thank you for believing in me, Y/N. I--- I don't know what to say."
His face flushed and you chuckled under your breath. He was so adorable, and you were falling for him so hard.
"I'll always believe in you."
You assured him, a broad smile of yours was telling him that you would be by his side to support him through everything.
"Always, Bruce."
Yes, you were sure that this incident of being a pocket-sized person was a fate. A beautiful fate that brought you closer to him. Somehow you could see, it was only a beginning to something wonderful for you and Bruce.
You were ready for it.
