You chewed on your bottom lip nervously, while you were walking as fast as you could to meet your friend. Unfortunately, you had to get through the market before you got to the place where your friend had promised to meet you.
You could hear whispers and giggles from the Asgardians as you were walking pass them. Oh, of course they would talk about you. You were not one of them. You were a Midgardian who was lucky enough to get adopted by your Asgardian parents. The people always thought that you did not belong in Asgard, and truth to be told, you believed them— No matter how many times your parents told you not to.
"Hey, mortal! What are you doing here?"
Your steps came to a halt and you sighed deeply. You decided to ignore them and continued to walk. But you bumped into someone and fell to the ground. You looked up and frowned when the man laughed at you without any intention of helping you at all.
"That's what you deserve, lady. Oh, I'm sorry. You are no lady to us."
He said, a mocking smile was on his face. You dusted off the dirt on your dress and stood up, aware that the people at the market were looking at you. They were happy to see you fall, only a few was kind enough to give you sympathy looks.
"Yes, you're not wrong, my friend. Who is she? A mere mortal."
Another man came just to insult you. Tears flooded your vision and you gritted your teeth to control your rage. This was not the first time you were harassed like this. You fought back a few times before, but they would not care at all.
You were going to leave when one of them grabbed your wrist, holding you back. You scowled at him but he just laughed.
"Let me go or you'll regret it."
You threatened him, but the situation got worse when the people laughed at you. Oh, you hated this. For years, you had to go through this sickening situation. Of course, they were a little bit nicer to you when you were a child, but not anymore that you had grown to be a beautiful maiden.
"Listen to her or you'll regret it."
Another voice came to threat the man. You recognized that voice very well. It was your friend's voice. But it seemed like the man did not. He smirked and turned around bravely.
"Who are you to— Oh, forgive me, my prince!"
He immediately regretted it when he saw Loki was glaring daggers at him. The man let go of your wrist and he scurried away. The others minded their own business, knowing that they could have their heads rolling down the stairs if Loki wanted to do that to them.
Loki muttered something under his breath and he took your wrist softly, healing it. You gave him a soft smile and pulled your hand away.
"Loki, it's fine."
"No, it is not! How long has this been happening to you?"
He was angry, that was for sure. You shook your head and led him out of the market. You did not want him to know your misery because he was very protective of you. You hated if someone got hurt because of you telling him about this.
"Y/N, why did not you tell me before?"
He walked side by side with you, worry flashed in his eyes. You chuckled and pinched his cheek playfully.
"Aww, Loki. Are you worried about me?"
You grinned. You were trying to cheer him up but clearly, it was not working as he was looking at you with concern in his eyes. There was no smile on his face.
"Y/N, I'm really worried about you. This is a serious matter."
Your smile dropped when you realised that he was serious. You nodded weakly and told him about every thing that you had to face, living in Asgard as a Midgardian.
"I'll kill every single of them who had hurt you, my darling."
He said, rage was consuming his consciences. Your eyes grew wide and you shook your head violently.
"Loki, don't! They're right about it. This is not my place."
You said with a sad smile. Loki let out a wistful sigh and suddenly, he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you close to his chest.
"Don't you dare to say that."
He warned you, a smile was dancing on his lips. He planted a kiss on your forehead and it brought a smile on your face.
"Y/N, you make me feel alive. When I saw you for the first time, I wasn't thinking about you were a Midgardian or what, but I was thinking about how I was falling for you."
He whispered sweetly into your ears. Your face flushed as his words got into your heart.
"Loki, I.. I have something to tell you."
You embraced your fear and decided to tell him the truth. You had this secret hidden for so long and you wanted to get it out of your chest.
"I love you."
Both of you said at the same time and then you both burst out laughing. Your heart swelled in happiness as Loki's laughs was like honey to your ears. It was not easy to make the prince laughed, hence you appreciated those moments when you managed to break his walls.
You pulled him down to your height by his shirt and you kissed him passionately. Loki was surprised but in a full throttle, he kissed you back. A ginormous tidal wave of joy washed over him as he got to hold you close in his arms.
"No one could ever hurt you again, my love. I promise you."
He sealed his promise with a kiss on your knuckles and you smiled broadly like a Cheshire cat. Your life was hard as a mortal in this land, but with Loki by your side, you would go through anything just to be with him.
