Old Friend

Chapter 58: Old friend

"Man that was too easy! You guys really need to come up with a better plan than that!" A short inkling said, as she watches the police throw the men in the cars.

"Thanks again, MC!" One of the cops had spoken to the inkling.

MC threw a thumbs up and ascended off her feet and shoot herself away, into the sky, before she got trapped among the incoming crowd.

She flew above the tall buildings, looking down at all the people and cars, making sure there weren't anymore crimes going on near by.

Once she saw that there was none, she landed on top of a random building and took a seat on the edge. She was pretty far up so no one would see her.

She pulled down her hood and her mask that covers the lower half of her face. She sighed as she places the mask next to her.

Pearl never wanted to play such important and dangerous role to Inkopolis. It was her dream to become a pop star. Singing, dancing, writing music and all that stuff. It still is her dream but she can't go down that path like she did before.

Over a year ago, Pearl had gotten in a terrible accident. She had been helping a crab dude named Sheldon do some work in this crazy lab of his. He had a bird in on little machine, which Pearl still to this day, has no idea how he managed to catch one. He shoved her in another weird machine and flipped a switch.

The two machines shook but then Sparks began to fly and Pearl tried to get herself out but failed. The bird was trying to get itself out as well. Pearl had began banging on the door, trying to get out. Sheldon had been trying to shut off the machine but had trouble doing so. Then Pearl felt something strike her, causing her to scream out in pain and she blacked out.

She woke up in the hospital. Doctors had came and asked bunch of questions and a few more days went by and she was discharged. But that's when everything changed.

It was late at night and she was walking down the street, after closing up the shop she works at.

It was dark and there were people that like to be out during that time. That day, a few dudes came out from a alley and jumped her. They shoved her to the wall, holding a blade to her neck, saying some nasty words and stuff.

Of course Pearl being Pearl, she kicked them back, and tried to fight back. But being outnumbered they pushed her back more. So she took flight and ran out the alley, with them on her tail. She made a mistake and turned the wrong corner, hitting an dead end. The guys were close.

Then something sprung inside her and she felt the ground leave her feet. It was such a strange thing to her at the time. The men looked around for the inkling but couldn't see that she was in the air. They left shortly after.

Took Pearl a while to shut whatever had sprung inside her and she fell back to the ground with a grunt. Good thing squids had no bones.

Pearl sighed as she recalls her tragic accident. She stood from the edge and climbed down the ladder that was off to the side.

She didn't need anyone taking pictures of the inkling.

What caused her to help the city, using her new powers? Well as a kid she was fascinated with heroes like Spider-Squid, Inkman, and all those cool dudes. They helped protect others and Pearl kinda wanted to do the same. Her main dream was music but she wanted to use her music to make people happy.

The short inkling was bullied when she was younger. And she has seen kids being bullied as she flys over schools. She wants to stop that. So she decided to become Inkopolis's postive image.
