Chapter 9

(Helicopter powering up)

"Haaa, it's been three days since we arrived here. It has been enjoyable. From officers to normal workers, all had a smile on their faces. Even I felt that the smile was genuine, and not just a force type of smile. But those moments would of course end because today, were leaving."

"Although I know that what you all said is true, why do you have a dejected expression dear?"

"It's because we're leaving my dear." Said the King.

"You should know that there would be many opportunities to meet in the future right? They even gifted us the clothing we used in the formal dinner. It just tells that the connection between us and the leaders of the Philippines is steady. So there would be so many opportunities to come back here." Said the Queen with a straight face.

The King then went silent and look away. "Why is she suddenly this sharp?" Thought the King to his wife.

Seeing the king looking away from her, Alcy just sighed. Then she proceeded to question her daughter.

"And you young miss why do you have the same face as your father?"

"Mother it's because there is not enough time to understand the concepts of these 'machines' the country, Philippines is using. If just given more time...." The princess, said this dejectedly. Although the last part was said in a fading tone.

The Queen, who heard this, couldn't help but have a face of disbelief in her husband and daughter.

These two just have that much in common when it came to seeing and experiencing new things.

While the Royal family was chatting and packing, the Philippine diplomats came.

Of course it was to see them off.

"What a happy family this is." Said Alfon with a wry smile.

The King then turned around and saw Rodel and Alfon, coming over to them.

"Well gentlemen it has been a pleasure meeting you." Said the King with a sly smile.

Rodel noticing his words, then said "Well it feels different to see you talking like that Mr. Braum. Although I know you took it from the book I gave you."

The King laughed and then said "Just wanted to know the feeling when saying it. And to be honest it has a nice feeling when said."

Rodel smiled and said "Very well then, till the next time we meet..... King Braum"

Rodel then extended his hand and did a handshake posture.

The King felt a little.... disturbed by Rodel's words but nonetheless, accepted the handshake.

The Captain of the royal knights called the king and said, "Your highness, everything has been packed. We are ready to depart at your command.

The King nodded and entered the chopper, before the chopper's hatch closed, Rodel shouted.

"Oh yeah, I nearly forgot but we have a surprise for you at the beach!"

The King looked back but the hatch already closed, because of this he can only ponder what the said surprise was.

As Alfon and Rodel watched the chopper(s) disappear in the skies, Alfon said "You were teasing him when you said 'King Braum' weren't you."

Rodel smiled and said "More or less."

When Alfon heard this, he couldn't help but sigh. Sometimes he just can't understand this old man with him.

.....

(In the chopper)

"Marx, I want to ask you a favor" (King Braum)

"Ohhhh, and what would that be?" Said Marx with interest.

"The king barely ask anything, normally if he does it, could be huge" thought Marx.

"Well, it's that you come back here every two weeks or so." Said the King.

When Marx heard this, he froze for quite a while. Not knowing what to say.

The King noticing this said, "Don't worry, the thing I asked is different from the sort of things like ordering and managing trade from the country but, it's to keep contact with the Philippines. That's all."

A little baffled Marx asked, "Why do I have to keep contact your highness?"

The King, hearing this, said his next words with seriousness.

"It's to make sure that my family, lineage, and people could evacuate to Philippines when war breaks out between the Tridom. Even if I am gone, as long as a member of the Marsus Kingdom continues to live on, we could always come back." (King Braum)

Marx became silent when he heard this. He knew that there is tension within the Kingdoms managing the Republic but, it seems that the line holding things together within it is about to break.

Knowing that thousands of lives could be in danger within the increasing tension of the Kingdoms, Marx stroked his no longer existent beard and said, "I accept your order your highness."

The King nodded in satisfaction at Marx's answer. He knows that it won't be long before war happens, all he needs to do now is convince his family and his people.

.....

(Few hours later)

"Mr.Marx, we are approaching the port, from there on you will be escorted further west by our men. We have found an alternative route back to the Marsus Kingdom, the route is a bit longer than your usual route, this is in case that to ensure the protection of the royal family, is that fine?" (Pilot)

Marx looked at the King and the King nodded.

"Alright, please do so." (Marx)

"Roger that" (Pilot)

Marx then went back to his own thoughts but suddenly remembered a certain word on what the pilot said.

"Wait, did you just say 'port'?" (Marx

The pilot, seemingly confused at the question, answered "Uh yes sir, I said port."

The King hearing Marx's question, was baffled at the pilot's answer. Then he remembered Rodel's words before he left.

"We have a surprise for you at the beach!"

"Do-don't tell me...." The King shivered at the thought of it. Building a port in three days!! No, maybe two days! Seeing that the diplomatic negotiations only ended in a single day, followed by there extra two day stay in the carrier. Building one in two days!! This was just unbelievable. He had not heard of a country finishing a big project in a matter of days. In a matter of fact, it would normally last for 2-3 years in the case of building a port. Yet the country, Philippines built one in two days.

This became a sole reminder to him not to become an enemy of the country. If a country that can accomplish such a feat, use it's military strength on his kingdom he know that his kingdom would not be able to give a fight. No it won't be a fight, but a one-sided slaughter instead.

The King now put this thoughts at the back of his head, he was still not believing that a port would suddenly just appear out of nowhere.

However that set of belief shattered when he saw it with his eyes later on.

A port! It was a damn port! He couldn't believe it! He took a glance at his royal knights captain, his wife and daughter, and then to Marx. And they all had the same expression, it was shock.

He took a look at the port, by what it seems it was half finished, but this didn't matter to him. What mattered to him was how huge it was. He could even see a few ships with long iron sticks on it, all facing upwards. Not just that there was also quite a number of helicopters and some large metal men all carrying boxes.

By the time they landed and the hatch opened, the people that was supposed to escort them was just there, both confused and dumbfounded.

There expressions are saying "we want to leave but we can't". So they just stood there..... For a very long while.
