Slamming my fist against the punching bag I felt it was getting easier and easier with each swing. There was a rhythm starting as I sweated. Pulling my hair into a ponytail in between swings I began using my legs. Hydra had physical training for the few times I was allowed out of the mental testing rooms. This resembled that a lot. I had accepted my past with Hydra a long time ago. All the lies and struggles of the years seemed to ease thanks to Steve and Bucky...
"Shit." I returned to a normal stance as I built a wall of ice around my heart just in case.
"What happened?" When I spun around Steve had his hands in his pockets, "You were doing so well."
"Nothing." I felt my eyes glaze with control. I could've smiled at this proud moment. Because that's what you're supposed to do right?
"How about we go one on one?" Steve suggested and I held my head up high.
"I'm good with just the punching bag." I gestured to it gracefully.
"You need to do more than just punch your opponents." Steve reminded wrapping a cloth around his hands anyway, "They move, what if they're agile and get the upper hand?"
"Fine." If I had pupils they'd roll.
Steve readied himself by jumping from each foot back and forth, "You gotta be ready for anything."
"You're not my sensei. Hit me already." I returned his serious face and watched as his right arm launched toward me. I dipped away and pictured his left leg slamming into my gut before it happened. Knowing this I grasped that leg and pulled it from under him. He grunted hitting the ground but grabbed my own leg forcing me to trip. I landing atop of him and groaned angrily. He threw me off of him for me, just as uncomfortable. I leaped back up from a push up and created an ice chain around his wrists. Pulling the chain he slammed face first into the ground. With a flick of my wrist the chain turned to mist and Steve rested a palm to his jaw.
"Ok so you remember a lot more than I thought." He faced me with no smile but his words were kind. Steve winced purposely to distract me from a slam to my side with his right leg. I fell to my left but used my wind to pick myself up and twist my arm to his weakened jaw. He dodged and I sprayed water in his eyes making him growl. Steve stumbled back and I pinned him to the ground, pressing heavy ice against his chest to lay him down. The block of ice was thrown and he flipped my body over so he was pinning instead. Now on top of each other again I grew irritated. I thrashed as my wrists were pressed against the ground. Using my leg strength I pulled in and retracted them to kick his stomach. He flinched but returned to pinning nonetheless. I turned my wrists to put my palms upward. It was uncomfortable but I sent out a pack of wind to blow him off. It just messed up his hair and made him blink wildly. Sending out more powerful air I saw him struggle to keep down. His grip was so tight that nothing would work. I grew tired.
"You're hurting me." I whined making Steve go wide eyed. He released and I rubbed my wrists. He stood and I only sat up.
"I'm so sorry, Izzy." He sighed with slight embarrassment.
"Don't call me that." I quickly replied making Steve straighten.
"Right. I apologize." Steve fidgeted, "Are you alright?"
"Yes. I'm fine." I lifted up to meet his gaze but he wouldn't look at me, "I shouldn't of snapped at you."
"No I shouldn't let old feelings get in the way." Steve almost muttered making my ears perk up. He reddened and rubbed his neck regretfully.
