a/n: In case you missed the warning in the last chapter:
⚠️⚠️⚠️
Just a warning!
This is the second half of the book and it gets thematically darker than how the story has been so far, even though the first few chapters may seem pretty tame. Proceed at your own risk!
After leaving the dance, Gianni went to drop (Y/n) off at her house. Though as she left the car both of them had a deep sting that came with not being together.
That was how Gianni ended up laying in her bed that night. They didn't have any intention to have sex and they didn't even bring it up. By the time they'd got home, Carmen and Ronan were already asleep so they weren't there to kick him out.
Gianni stayed in the white dress shirt he was wearing and a pair of sweatpants that (Y/n) managed to steal from Ronan's clean laundry. (Y/n) got changed in the bathroom to keep some modesty between them.
One thing that was immediately evident when they got into the bed was that it was far too small. They laughed a little as they tried to get more comfortable and (Y/n) ended up settling in Gianni's arms and surrounded by his warmth.
They mumbled tired words to each other as they drifted off, most of (Y/n)'s went unheard as they were muffled by her face being against Gianni's chest.
Gianni was on cloud nine. Even in a tiny uncomfortable bed that he had to share, he felt he couldn't get a better night's sleep than when he had (Y/n) held close to him.
He couldn't help the occasional kiss to her forehead as she dozed off, he stayed awake a little longer than her just so he could feel her slow breathing.
God, he was surprised she could fall asleep with the way his heart was beating like a drummer on steroids.
Speaking of heartbeats, Gianni then and there had decided that his favorite feeling in the entire world was the feeling of (Y/n)'s heartbeat. The heart that he now knew beated for him as his beated just for her.
"Sweet dreams, my love~"
When (Y/n) arrived in her dream she knew immediately that it wasn't real.
"Great." She mumbled to herself. "How am I going to die tonight?"
She was surrounded by darkness, it seemed her mind was yet to think up a new scenario for her.
But things were a little different, some uncanny feeling irked her as she felt something was missing.
It didn't take long to figure out that what was missing was her dad. He was always there, not in person but in soul, she could usually sense him but not this time.
The only dreams where she couldn't sense him where when-
Suddenly she was thrust backwards and she was in the chair, in the dark cabin. Now she knew what was going on, her dad wasn't here because she had entered a different recurring nightmare.
Great.
The shadowy figure silently approached and (Y/n) didn't bother saying anything. She knew what was going to happen, she was going to get shot and then she'd wake up. (Y/n) just wanted to speed up the process at this point.
The gun was raised painfully slowly and with a new aura of hesitation that she hadn't seen before.
"I-I'm sorry." A sob left the figure as his hand grew shaky.
This was new and shocked (Y/n). What shocked her even more was how she recognised the voice to be Gianni's. Surely it was just her mind putting his voice in there because it was what she heard as she fell asleep.
"Gianni?" She questioned.
"I'm sorry!" He yelled, she still couldn't see his face but didn't need to to know he crying with full force as more and more wails entered her ears.
"Why are you crying?" (Y/n) managed to keep clam since she knew this was a dream and she was no longer scared by it since she would die in her dreams almost every night.
She just wanted to figure out why the strict formula was changing all of a sudden. Maybe her brain had just got bored of doing the same thing and wanted to spice things up with some angst.
"I... I am so sorry." The figure cried.
(Y/n) sighed sharply. It was nice and all that he felt bad for killing her but saying sorry over and over wasn't really helping her out.
She opened her mouth to ask him another question about what was going on but then the gunshot came.
"(Y/n), wake up."
"Hm?"
"Wake up." Gianni was speaking to her quietly as he shook her lightly. "Bad dream?"
"What was I doing?" (Y/n) asked, she'd never really shared a bed or room with anyone since she was a kid so she wasn't aware if she moved or talked in her sleep.
"You were wriggling around a lot and you looked upset." He frowned. "Do you want to talk about it?"
(Y/n) shook her head, there wasn't a lot to talk about. She vaguely remebered saying something at Henry's party about Gianni coming to shoot her and supposed that that must have incorporated itself into dreams she was having anyway.
"Not really, it's fine." She said dismissively.
"Was it your dad?"
"No, don't worry about it." (Y/n) forced a smile onto her face for her new boyfriend. This was a brand new relationship and she wouldn't let it end before it even started because of some stupid little dream.
"Okay..." Gianni spoke sceptically. "What time is it?"
(Y/n) leaned over his to look at her clock, leaving Gianni cold without her. "Six in the morning." She shuddered at the earliness. "Are you going back to sleep?"
"I'm up now." Gianni shrugged.
(Y/n) settled back against him and he smiled as she was in her previous position. "Wanna just lie here till we need to get up?"
"Absolutely."
Not even a few minutes had passed when (Y/n)'s door was flung open.
"Sweetie, I'm not gonna be at home all day because it turns out Harry was working for Torres and I gotta-" Carmen started to enable loudly but she stopped when she saw Gianni and (Y/n) snuggled together. "God!" The older woman exclaimed. "What are you doing??"
"Mom!" (Y/n) sat up in surprise.
"Dear lord! Did you two-"
"No!" (Y/n) threw her blanket off of them to show that she and Gianni were fully clothed. "Gianni just stayed the night because... he asked me to be his girlfriend."
Carmen's panic quickly left and she breathed out in relief. "Oh, okay. That's nice." She cleared her throat. "Well, you heard me. I'll be back tonight."
Gianni had stayed dead silent throughout the entire interaction. He knew that if it had been one of his parents who discovered them together he would've been disowned on the spot and likely stopped from ever seeing (Y/n).
As Carmen walked out she was chewing on her lip anxiously. Her daughter was now the girlfriend of her boss's son, her boss was a very powerful man and she knew that if Felix caught wind of their partnership then things could go very badly very quickly.
She hadn't spoken to Felix in years, he was decent enough to pay child support and she didn't intend to have anymore contact with him when (Y/n) reached eighteen and he would stop paying.
Sometimes Carmen would pick up on small things, she had always suspected that Felix was watching them.
She could only hope for the best when it came to (Y/n).
