"I'm home, (Y/n)." Gianni said as he entered.

Just over a month had passed since...their night of passion. Things were still a bit stiff between the two of them and Gianni still pushed for (Y/n) to be closer with him but didn't get mad at her when she inevitably didn't.

They rarely spoke of the incident and they hadn't repeated anything close to it.

Neither of them were happy but they had become content. Gianni was sure that their relationship would grow once again and (Y/n) was sure Gianni would come to his senses eventually.

"Hey, how was school?" She switched off the old sitcom she'd been half heartedly watching.

"Fine. I missed you." Gianni put his stuff down and took some pens out of his bag. "I picked these up for you, I know you said that the pen you'd been using was running out."

(Y/n) thanked him and took the pens from his hands.

"What did you do today?" Gianni asked her.

(Y/n) paused, she had planned to go out to the clearing that day but her idea had been thwarted by an upset stomach. "I actually threw up this morning and I haven't really eaten." She admitted.

Concern for the girl flooded Gianni, he rushed up to her and put the back of his hand on her forehead. "Why didn't you page me??"

She shrugged. "What were you gonna do from school?"

"I-I... I just would've liked to know sooner." He cupped her cheeks after deeming her to be a suitable temperature. "How do you feel now?"

"A bit better but still a little funny, I might skip dinner-"

"Not happening. You can't starve yourself." Gianni denied her.

"I'm really not hungry..." She groaned and sat back down.

"I don't care, you don't have to eat much but it's unhealthy not to eat anything at all. We have some medicine in the cabinet but you need to have a full stomach to take it." He went to the kitchen with the intention of getting started on dinner right then.

"Fine." (Y/n) huffed, she was only agreeing because the prospect of getting medication sounded appealing at the moment.

Gianni smiled brightly in satisfaction. He wished that (Y/n) would smile too, he hadn't seen her smile or heard her laugh in so long. At night he would stare at the picture they'd taken in the photo booth to see her grin and he'd try to conjure the sound of her laughter in his head.

It wasn't nearly as good as the real thing but it was close. He hoped she was at least smiling while he was at school, she was being stubborn and that was fine but he hoped she was happy and was just trying not to show it for her pride's sake.

When they had dinner a little later on, Gianni laid out some pills next to (Y/n)'s plate.

"You take those after you've eaten." He informed her.

(Y/n) gave her usual silent reply of an affirmative nod.

Throughout the meal Gianni found himself stealing singular glances at (Y/n), she noticed but didn't call him out on it. He just loved to look at her, not just because of how pretty she was but because it was her. She was sitting right in front of him, eating the food he'd made in the house they lived in together. Just thinking about it was completely overwhelming for Gianni.

(Y/n) ate slowly, the food was good but everything she had was just too rich. Her stomach ached like it never had before, she wondered if she had eaten something bad but she only ate what Gianni gave her so surely he would be ill too.

She painfully got through the whole meal just to get some relief at the end in the form of the tablets Gianni had laid out for her.

"I think I'm gonna go to bed." She announced.

"But it's so early." Gianni protested sadly, he was hoping to get some more time with her.

"I'm just really not feeling good."

It was the middle of the night and Gianni was holding (Y/n)'s hair back as she puked into the toilet bowl.

The smell was putrid but in an odd way Gianni didn't mind. It reminded him of Henry's party when (Y/n) had been sick from taking too much ecstacy while drinking. It was that night that Gianni realised his love for (Y/n).

He didn't mention this to her, it was probably the opposite of what (Y/n) wanted to hear.

She lifted her head up when she felt she was done. Her stomach still hurt and now her throat did too with the vigour with which she'd been sick.

Small tears fell down her cheeks, it was just so painful and wasn't stopping.

"Oh, baby~" Gianni hushed (Y/n)'s crying and held her gently.

(Y/n) just melted into his hold, his comfort was something that she needed right then. She had never been unwell like this before and she had no idea how this would've even happened.

The pain was still very much present when (Y/n) woke up later in the morning. She felt bad for waking Gianni in the middle of the night when he had to leave so early.

He'd left a note out for her with some sickeningly sweet words about how he hoped she'd feel better. He'd also put out more medicine for her but wrote in big letters that she needed to eat.

(Y/n) put a painkiller in her mouth carelessly and swallowed it dry.

She just wanted to know the cause of her illness. It didn't make sense, if she had caught something then the only person she could've possibly gotten it from would be Gianni but he seemed perfectly fine.

A slight fear resided in her that this was something serious and Gianni wouldn't let her go to the doctor.

(Y/n) thought over other possible reasons. Maybe it was something to do with her period, she was due around this time but her cramps had never been this bad.

She stopped what she was doing and her eyes widened. Her period hadn't come yet and she was getting sick... in an instant, (Y/n) scrambled to the coffee table where the pager sat along with a sheet of paper with Morse code written on it.

Gianni was sat in class when his pager started to beep. Luckily the students around him were talking so they didn't hear it.

He quickly pulled the pager out and began to write out the sequence (Y/n) was contacting him with. This was the first time she'd initiated talking to him while at school so it must have been important.

'.--. .-. . --. -. .- -. -.-. -.-- / - . ... -'

He frowned as a few of the letters floated together in his head. Gianni must have been hearing things.

He translated the message in disbelief.
