Everyone sits down and Gandalf continues chanting for a while before lapsing into silence. I walk over to Aragorn and Sam who are unloading everything of the pony. I put my bag over my back and Skylar follows me back over to the rock where I was sitting. Merry and Pippen are throwing rocks and the sound of them hitting the water seems to echo twice as loud as normal. Aragorn grabs Merry's arm "Do not disturb the water." "Y/N why doesn't Gandalf know its a riddle?" I frown "What?"
Skylar smiles "The writing on the door its a riddle." Frodo looks over at us then at the door. He stands and I turn hearing the water moving. "Skylar's right its a riddle. Gandalf what's Elvish for friend?" I stand and watch the water as Gandalf says "Mellon." The doors slowly swing open and everyone stands walking over. I smile "You're very smart for such a young dragon." Skylar smiles and we walk over to the door.
We all walk inside but I keep glancing over my shoulder at the water an uneasy feeling going through me. Gimli grins at Legolas "Soon, Master Elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the Dwarves. Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone. This, my friend is the home of my cousin Balin," I smile remembering the dwarf but glance at the ground as Gandalf lights his staff. "And they call it a mine. A mine!"
I frown and look around as Gandalf casts a light around us, there are dead bodies littering the floor many with arrows sticking out of them. Boromir frowns "This is no mine. It's a tomb." Gimli lets out a cry of anguish and runs over to one of the bodies kneeling down and looking around. Legolas examines one of the arrows "Goblins." Everyone draws their swords and Legolas and I notch an arrow on our bowstrings, all on alert. Boromir scowls "We make for the Gap of Rohan. We should never have come here."
All the hobbits are huddled together and Boromir yells "Now. get out of here. Get out!" I turn and see Frodo fall to the ground being dragged out by what looks like a large tentacle "Frodo!" the hobbits try and pull him back and I run over with Aragorn and the others. Frodo is lifted up into the air and I start shooting the tentacles that are flailing around while the others hack at them with swords. Frodo falls but luckily Boromir catches him. "Into the mines."
Everyone runs back towards the cave and I continue shooting next to Legolas getting the thing in the eye several times. Just as everyone is inside the thing reaches forward causing large rocks to collapse over the door sealing us inside. Everything goes pitch black and Gandalfs voice appears just as his staff lights up once again "We now have but one choice. We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world."
I walk behind Legolas putting my bow on my back and drawing my sword. Skylar flies next to us gliding along barely touching the floor. Gandalf sighs "Quietly now. It's a four-day journey to the other side. Let us hope that our presence may go unnoticed." I frown four days stuck in the dark with dead Dwarves, Goblins, Orcs and a Balrog. Brilliant. We follow Gandalf through the halls his staff and a couple of torches our only source of light except for Skylar who seems to be glowing slightly in the dark.
We continue on walking along winding paths and steps "The wealth of Moria was not in gold or jewels but mithril." We all look over the edge of the outcrop we are standing on. The wall extends down into the darkness covered in ladders and abandoned tools. "Bilbo had a shirt of mithril rings that Thorin gave him." I smile remembering that day and the gifts that the dwarves gave me. Gimli smiles "Oh, that was a kingly gift." Gandalf nods "I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of the Shire." I smile "He was very kind with his gifts."
We continue walking in silence the only sounds are our feet on the ground and the occasional scratching of Skylar's claws on the ground. We come to a stop on a balcony of sorts with three separate doorways, Gandalf looks around "I have no memory of this place." Gandalf, Gimli and Aragorn all start smoking and Sam builds a small fire. Merry and Pippen start whispering to each other and Legolas sits next to me "You are fond of Thorin oakenshield."
I smile "He is a friend, nothing more." he nods and visibly relaxes "Why do you care who he is to me?" he blushes slightly "I don't." I smile and turn slightly watching Gandalf and Frodo talk.
