Mirkwood

(time skip past the coronation)

I wrap my arms tightly around Legolas's middle smiling brightly as we waltz around "Middle Earth once again has a king." he nods smiling "And a Queen." I smile glancing over at Aragorn and Arwen as they talk to guests both smiling the entire time. "We should offer our congratulations." he nods slightly and we move to the edge of the room before walking over to them both. I smile and hug Arwen "Congratulations." she grins "Thank you." she glances over at Aragorn who is talking with Legolas "I didn't think it was possible to love someone so much."

I smile "It is good to see you so happy." she nods grinning "And what about you?" I frown "What about me?" she takes my hands in hers "Are you happy?" I grin looking over at Legolas "Very." 

Legolas P/O/V:

Once the main celebrations have finished for the night I join Aragorn and Gimli outside on one of the many balcony's. Gimli grins "Well its good to have this whole ordeal finished with." Aragorn chuckles "For you yes, I have a country to rule." I smile warmly "You will make a wonderful king." Gimli nods "Aye that you will." they both turn to me and Gimli grins "What about you lad, Y/N and you seem to be very happy together." I smile slightly "I plan on proposing when we reach Mirkwood."

Aragorn grins "Congratulations." Gimli practically beams "We shall await wedding invitations." I chuckle softly "She has to say yes before that can happen." Aragorn smiles "I have seen the way you look at each other, she will say yes." I nod slightly clasping my hands behind my back "Thank you for your confidence."

Gimli grins "Well I'm of to find the rest of my kin." he walks away whistling to himself. Aragorn smiles "Good night Legolas." I bow my head slightly turning to watch the city below. 

"I was wondering where you got to." I smile and turn around watching the Y/N walk over the moonlight illuminating her features "I was talking with the new king." she smiles softly wrapping her arms around my waist and leaning her head on my chest. "It's beautiful isn't in it." I hum in response running my fingers through her hair "Your beauty outshines all." she giggles leaning her head back "I love you Legolas Greenleaf." I lean forward brushing my lips over hers "I love you Y/N."

"We should head inside, we leave early morning for Mirkwood." she nods slightly kissing my cheek before taking a step back and offering me her hand, I take it brushing my lips over her knuckles before leading her inside. 

The next morning we pack away our belongings and head down to the stables saddling our horses and get ready to leave. "Is that everything?" she nods smiling and we head back up to the throne room. After saying good bye and good luck we leave riding out of the city towards my home, Mirkwood.

It takes a week of riding at a steady pace before we reach the border. We pause for a moment on the outskirts and Y/N moves slightly closer "Are you alright?" she nods smiling "I'm with you." we follow the path through the trees and I wounder when the last time was that I went down this road. The main gate comes into view and two guards come out to greet us. I jump down greeting them with a slight bow. The one on the left smiles "Prince Legolas, your father is expecting you."

Y/N jumps down by my side taking my hand in hers. We follow the guards inside allowing two others to lead our horses away to the stables. We walk through the corridors of Mirkwood and I smile slightly "I've missed this place." Y/N smiles softly, squeezing my hand as we stop just outside the throne room "Ready?" I nod giving her a smile before we walk inside.
