Chapter 60: Death to the Angel

"Master."

A male Demon dressed in a black suit entered a large room where the only source of light were blue capsules aligned in rows.

At the end of the large room sat another Demon in a black tuxedo. His long hair was tainted black as if it were originally of another color.

The long-haired Demon looked over his shoulder quietly as he kept writing down notes in a humongous, ancient book.

On his desk rested many artifacts and tools, but what stood out the most was the modified pistol that used small capsules with the same blue liquid that glowed within the larger capsules as cartridges.

"Ahh, Mazi, it's been a while since you've last entered the lab. What is so important for you to overcome your fears?"

The Fallen Angel; Lucifer; member of the Satan's Apostles. He spoke to his butler as if he saw right through him.

Usually, the butler named Mazi wouldn't even dare enter Lucifer's laboratory, despite being a Demon. He would rather do the most disgusting chores than enter the place.

However, the news he brought with him was of great importance to his master.

Mazi's legs trembled and his footsteps echoed throughout the darkness lit by the blue capsules with dormant enigma's resting inside. After what felt like an eternity, Mazi finally arrived at his master's side.

"Master, the Watch has raised the city's sirens. Do you think it's your daughter?"

The butler inquired with a bow as one arm was behind him and the other rested on his chest.

"Ohh? Now, why would the Watch sound the alarm for a single girl?"

Lucifer contradicted Mazi's question without sparing him a glance. He stopped writing notes and closed the book. He then grabbed the modified pistol on his desk and pushed it inside the holster strapped to his leg.

"I-I don't know, Master, but there have been reports of multiple hooded criminals trying to escape the district."

Mazi stuttered in fear. Although he was a coward, Lucifer still favored him as his most loyal trustee.

"Say what?! I must get going right away, Mazi. And don't you dare forget to lock up!"

Lucifer roared as he gritted his teeth, clenching his fists. Pitch-black wings sprouted from his back before he disappeared from Mazi's sight.

"Oh, do be careful, Master. As today shall mark as your last. Heh... haha... hahahahahaha!"

The feeble butler showed his true colors as he dropped to his knees and laughed hysterically.

"I take it, you're the escapee that caused all that mayhem at that stinking place? What is a fool like you doing with my precious daughter?"

Lucifer levitated in the air as an entire platoon of Watch guards gathered below him, in front of Horu, who had just been saved from a bullet to the head.

"I knew it! Lucifer... How awful it is to see thou again."

"...So that's how it is. You've merged with my superior, haven't you, boy? Or should I say, Ignis?"

Ohh? It seems Ignis has returned from the dead and has carried a host with him. Magnificent! If he isn't immortal that means that I can... Yes! I shall steal that power of yours and make it mine, King of Gods! And then I'll be able to get my revenge... at last.
