"Mommy, why does the sun never go out?" a little boy asked his mother as he basked in the rays of the sun. He wore a white polo shirt and shorts that matched his shoes. His hair was white and frizzy, reflecting as much as light as possible. He looked like a cupid that had grown up slightly.
"You really love the sun, don't 'ya, boy? Stare at it for too long and you'll go blind," his father remarked as he chugged down another of his armory of beer cans. His mother placed his hands between hers as she squatted down. Her gaze was soft and comforting.
"The sun is a creation of the gods, dear Allen. It is one of the countless stars in the sky that protect us from bad things."
"Ehh... Mommy, what 'bad things' do you mean? You said that the world only has good stuff. Like veggies and school!" The small boy named Allen said as he caused a moment of silence. His mother looked away and gave a glance at his father, who couldn't come up with an answer that would be safe for his child's ears.
"..."
"Mommy?"
"Huh! Um...sorry, Allen. Mommy is not feeling so well. I will answer your questions later, dearest. Go play with your friends, they're waiting on you," the woman avoided the conversation by a hair's breadth when one of Allen's friends grabbed his hands and dragged him back to the playfield. The same way he got dragged out of his house when his life got flipped upside down.
That specific day, Allen woke up in the middle of the night. His head hurt tremendously, most likely due to waking up by the sound of destruction. Boom! Crash! Clank! All kinds of sounds reverberated from below. Allen had always been a tough kid, and never backed out of fights or chances to explore the world that surrounded him. He was even brave enough to step out of his room and slowly descend the staircase to the ground floor of his house. And there it was...
Nothing but the sight of crimson red. Blood. The living room where Allen watched TV with his father; played around with friends; and ate his favorite breakfast every morning, was now in shambles. His limbs were frozen in fear, and his eyes couldn't believe what they saw.
"M-M-M-Mommy... Dad..." Allen dropped the teddybear he held tightly in his arms at night.
"Tatsumi Kaiba! You have broken a sacred regulation established by the Order of Light. By committing homicide to your wife, Ritsu Itami, you have been sentenced to immediate execution by the name of Helios. May you repent for your sin in the Underworld for eternity."
And so, my father was beheaded in front of my very own eyes. The woman who raised me, took care of me, and embraced me without me having to ask, laid dead on the floor next to him. To this day, I still can't believe it. Even though a drunk, my father was a good-to-honest man who served the Order with all of his faith and strength. Even in his final moments, he held no resentments or regrets of any kind. The man looked me in the eyes and...smiled oh so brightly.
Both my parents were proud members of the Order, whereas my mother was of royal blood. Although, as time passed, even I became pledged to the Order. It wasn't as if I had a choice. They gave me shelter, food, training, education, and treated me like equal. No, I was mistaken.
I grew powerful. My magic exceeded even that of the most potent of squires. I grew dangerous. I hurt many of my instructors, even when I hadn't meant to. I grew deadly. During missions, my enemies feared even the sight of my presence. I killed, and slaughtered in the name of the Order.
Until I found out who I really was, and exiled myself. From him. My real father. That day, the day that I left, everything began to make sense. The man who I portrayed as a father figure was not the man who created me. It was the very figure of worship that founded the Order; Helios. After finding out that she had an affair, the man named 'Tatsumi Kaiba' murdered my mother.
