The noise of cartwheels rumbling echoed between the walls of a dim ridge. Skeleton horses carried a carriage with energy emanated through their noses.
"I hate carriages."
"Nonsense! The carriage is the most serene and lovely location a noblewoman will ever reach! As a wise man once said, it is when traveling with a carriage that ideas flow best and abundantly."
On their way down south carried by a skeleton horse, Yae and Lily were arguing whether a trip by carriage was suitable for a lady or not.
Meanwhile, the coachman who drove the carriage was oblivious of the fact that a boy possessing divine power was also a part of his clientele.
That Medusa sure was something. I'm so exhausted that I—
'—Hah! It was nothing for me, the Divine King!'
You've got to be kidding me.
'Kid-ding? Do not use such modern terms with me. Or should I say, with yourself from now on?'
It seems you're back, Ignis.
The voice that pestered Horu Sakaki for months at the FMA had returned. This time, the first thing he did was not lend him power at the very verge of death, he simply began laughing.
'It shall be more proper to say I... hibernated.'
Hibernated? What do you mean?
'You were cast away to the Edge of the World as punishment for my sin. If it wasn't for your Blessing, you would've turned into a lost soul, a so-called Daemon. That is, if you're lucky.'
Please don't remind me.
'The temperature in the Underworld is at an all-time extreme. Only immortals and wandering souls can withstand the heat and absence of navigation and distance.'
So, does that make me a Daemon?
'Heh. You're very much human. The Blessing of Wrath provided all the energy necessary to regenerate your body over and over. I had to act before your soul would become a part of the Source. Thus, I preserved it. Unfortunately, it had already taken lots of damage.'
My soul, huh.
That's probably why a majority of my memories are gone.
But wait.
Why are you here, Ignis?
'I'm here to warn you.'
Wha...
'You recently learned how to come in terms with the Blessing, and tapped into my boundless power. You've done this too many times and your mortal physique has begun rejecting it. If you don't stop using the Primal form...'
I'll lose the Blessing and the heat outside will instantly scorch me to death. But what happens to my soul?
'The soul. It is a nigh-indestructible clump of personified energy. Right now we've found ourselves in a new district. Only souls at the Edge and the Melds are allowed to wander around freely. If you abuse the Blessing anywhere else than those places...'
