- it had been two months since you and steve got married
- you just celebrated your four-year anniversary six months before you got married
- so you guys had been together almost five years
- and it was the happiest you'd ever been
- you met sophomore year in english class
- you were paired to do a presentation on hamlet
- but you guys actually became best friends
- at first, you thought it was odd that his best friend was five years younger than him
- but you grew close with dustin too
- you swore you never laughed more in two weeks than you did during your project
- for a while you didn't think he felt the same when you figured out you had a crush on him
- it took you two months to realize
- but you told him one night
- you went to a party together
- you were drunk
- he drove you home
- when he tried to get you out of the car to walk you in is when you told him
- he dropped you on the grass
- you were crying laughing
- he laughed with you
- when you refused to get up, he sat next to you
- in the midst of your drunken laughing fit, it slipped out
- he was silent
- you were silent
- he helped you to your feet and walked you in, getting you to bed and making sure you took your birth control pill
- and then he left
- the next morning, you remembered what happened
- you beat yourself up over telling him
- but he called you and invited you over
- you reluctantly went over
- you sat on his couch next to him silently
- he was the first to speak
- "do you really like me?" he asked
- he sounded like he didn't think he was worth liking
- you nodded
- "i do"
- "how long?"
- "couple months"
