You scrambled to open the envelope addressed to you. The return address was from The University of Notre Dame, one of the most pristine, difficult schools to get into. Lucky for you, it was in Indiana, so you wouldn't be far from home.
You quickly pulled the piece of paper out, reading the text. A smile crept across your face as you realized you got in. You could feel your heart pounding and your body got red and hot, a tear dripping down your face.
You instantly ran upstairs, slid your shoes on, and ran out the door with the letter in your hand.
You sped off toward your girlfriend Robin's house. You two hadn't been dating long, and you hadn't even had your first kiss. But she was your hype woman, the person you always shared news with first, good or bad.
When you arrived, you banged on the door until she opened. You quickly walked in and dragged her upstairs to her room, where she sat on her bed, watching you jump around happily.
"You gonna tell me what's happening, or...?"
You looked at her when you managed to calm down. "I got in."
She raised her eyebrows. "To which school?"
"Notre Dame." You handed her the acceptance letter, which she ripped open. She stood up as she read the positive words before looking at you.
"Holy shit!" she exclaimed.
"I'm officially a student at the University of Notre Dame."
She cupped your face. "I'm so proud of you."
You glanced down at her lips and leaned in, gripping one of the hands that were still on your face. Your lips connected, and she kissed you back.
When the kiss ended, you both stared at each other with wide eyes.
"Did that just happen?" you asked.
"I think so."
You started giggling, which made her laugh in return.
"Holy shit."
"What?" she asked with a smile on her face.
"I just realized... you're the first girl I've kissed."
"No shit."
"Yeah."
"Well... you're a natural. Let's go celebrate."
"Celebrate how?"
"Waffles? On me."
"Robin-"
"Y/N, we should've been dating long enough now for you to realize that I'm not gonna let you pay for your own food. Come on."
Eating Waffle House at three in the afternoon with your girlfriend was some of the most fun you'd had in a long time. She kept cracking jokes about you turning into a brat and going to an ivy league school, and forgetting her, to which you joked back that she shouldn't be surprised if you do.
A few seconds later, you got serious.
"I'll never forget you, Robin Buckley. Not in a million years."
"A billion?"
"Nope."
"What about a trillion?"
You laughed softly. "I could go an infinite number of years and still never forget you."
She lightly kicked you under the table. "Nerd."
