Recovering

Maddie's P.O.V-

The doctors leave after they finish up my tests and I sit alone. My arm was broke and I had a damaged ankle so I was a lot of pain. I lay down and pull the covers up. My bed wasn't very comfortable and so I sigh.

I see the door open slightly and see Luke's hair. I close my eyes and pretend I'm sleeping. I didn't want to speak to him because I had no idea what I'd say, I loved him so much but he hurt me.

"Mads?" I don't respond and he sighs so he thinks I'm asleep. "I'm so sorry mads. I wish I could rewind and just stop myself. I can't believe she tricked me into thinking she was you. She tried so hard, I actually fell for it and now you hate me. I deserve it so I don't blame you. I just wish that night never happened" He says and as he says the last line, he begins to cry.

I instantly sit up and he gasps in shock. I grab his hand and with my broken hand, I wipe his tears away with my other.

"It's okay Luke, don't cry"

"It's all my fault, I did this. Maddie I'm so sorry I believed she was you. I was a little drunk and she acted like he was you. That's not an excuse but I'm so sorry. I just-" I stop him from talking by kissing his lips. He delicately holds my waist, like I was a fragile china. He pulls off and sighs. He looked a little better but I knew he still hated himself.

"Luke, I forgive you. Steph hates me and when she use to bully me she say she'd take my boyfriend off me if I ever had one. I knew it was coming" Tears built up in my eyes and he sees.

"I'm so sorry I hurt you"

"Why didn't you stay with her? What's so special about me? Why didn't you get the better version?" I say releasing my tears.

"Don't ever say that, you mean so much to me. You're the most amazing girl I've ever met and I want to spend all my time with you. She is nothing compared to you mad, you're my everything"

"You mean it?"

"I mean it, you're all I think about" I kiss him again and he smirks.

"I love you so much Hemmings"

"I love you too" He holds my hand as the doctor walks in.

"You ready to take your walking lesson?"

"I guess" I say and Luke keeps holding my hand. He helps me out the bed and I grab onto the doctor. Luke then sits in the visitors seat and smiles to me, nodding so I know he was there for me. I take a few steps while holding my doctors hand and soon enough, I was walking on my own.

"That's your session done for the day, I'll be back tomorrow" He smiles and helps me back into the bed. Luke pulls the chair closer and smirks.

"What?" I say as I know he wanted to do something.

"Hold out your broken arm"

"No, it's broke"

"PLEASSEEEE" He squealed and so I did. He pulled out a red sharpie pen and I smile. I watch him carefully draw, he stops as he sees me staring.

"Let me look!" I say and he finishes. I take my arm back and I smile.

'Here lie the broken bones of Maddie Day'

Luke and I both laugh as Michael walks in. Michael and Anna were really supportive since I've been awake and they helped Luke a lot, I was happy they were there for him.

"Hey Mikey! Wanna sign my cast?" I say offering my arm.

"Yeah! I have no pen" He frowned and so luke brings out his collection of markers.

He writes 'Michael Clifford', signs it and writes a really dirty joke making Luke and I laugh. He was such an idiot sometimes. I see my door slowly open revealing Liz, Andrew, Luke's two brothers and Celeste.

"Maddie!" Celeste says running over. She gives me a gentle hug and I smile.

"Hey, where's Zoe?" I smile.

"She's with my mother. Babies aren't allowed in hospitals. Well, the wards for sick people" I nod as Liz comes over. She holds my hand.

"I'm so glad you're awake"

"Me too"

"Those high heels shoes need to be worn" She winks and I look back confused.

"Mum!" Luke glares.

"Sorry..."

"What?" I ask and Luke looks the ground.

"I bought you the black heels you've wanted for ages but I never got a chance to give them to you"

"Not the ones from that expensive place" I say sitting up.

"I love you and you're worth it" I let a tear slip out. Luke looks worried and I smile.

"Happy tears Hemmings, they're happy" He kisses my cheek and I smile. A while later and they leave as they needed sleep so I sent them home. That was the one thing I hated about this, I was spinning everyone's life around. They'd drop everything just to see me and I hated it.

I get comfy and Luke kisses my cheek. He grabs my hand just as I see my door open, Calum and Anna stroll in. They pull up two chairs and I give them each a soft hug as my lungs had been damaged as well.

"Canna! I'm so happy to see you both" I smile and they hold hands.

"I'm glad to hear you're walking again, you're getting back to your old self"

"I'm so happy. Things are looking up" I say gripping Luke's hand and his smiles gets bigger.

"I'm so happy you're okay Maddie, after seeing you heartbroken over Luke, I'm glad you two worked it out" Calum says and I give a small smile.

"I'm glad I know what happened, I made a judgement way too soon"

"But Maduke is back and stronger than ever" Michael says and we both laugh. I think Luke was too happy he couldn't stop smiling to laugh.

The rest of the day is spent just chatting and covering up the fact I was in hospital which was nice. From the begin to end of all conversations, Luke looked way happier and I knew it was because I forgave him. I was also ten times happier because I had my Luke back.
