The Next Day as Matt and Gabby wake up after shift:
Matt's POV: Last night was a hard shift. Even though we tried to sleep, we couldn't...not after the news we got. Instead, we talked most of the night in the back of the ambulance because we needed to think this over. As Paramedics, we would be on the front line. And now that this deadly virus is here in Chicago...we need to think about Matteo.
As I looked at Gabby while getting dressed after my shower, I walk up behind her at her locker. Putting my hand on her hip, I move to kiss her shoulder softly. "We in agreement about what we need to tell Chief this morning before we leave?" Gabby turned around and nodded. "I already packed everything from my locker. Who knows how long we'll be out."
I nodded and then kissed her. "I did the same. Now, let's go talk to Chief and then we need to go relieve Will and Natalie. They're on their way to Chicago Med already with him." Gabby nodded. "Okay, let's talk to Chief quick. We need at least a bit of time to figure this out." I nodded and then grabbed her hand, leading her to Chief's office so that we could ask for a little time off.
