Miracles Season 5: Health First Part 1 (Dawsey)

Firehouse Visit

Gabby's POV: After driving to Chicago Med, I was now in the middle of parking the car in the space closest to the emergency room. Even though I agreed to come get Matt, I didn't agree to go inside. If he thought I was going to go inside with Matteo...he was mistaken. He could either walk out alone or he could get a nurse to roll him out to the car. Grabbing my phone, I went to call him. I waited a few dial tones when he answered. "Hey." Matt replied pretty quickly. "Hey, you on your way to Med?" 

I then let him know that he had to walk out. "I'm here in the parking lot. Get out here so that I can take you home. We both know that it's not a good idea for me to come in with Matteo." He agreed. "Luckily for you, I'm already on my way out the door. I'm just looking for the car." That's when I saw him at the doors. "Just stay there. I'm rolling over right now. However, get in fast. This is the emergency entrance after all and we can't block ambulances from getting in."

He agreed and then I hung up. Driving up to him, I smiled when he opened the door to get in the car. Looking at him, I smiled. "How are you feeling?" Closing the door before answered, I smiled as he buckled up. "Somewhat better. Still a little shook up and I need to lay down. That's the only way the doctors said I could go home." He then reclined the chair a bit so that he could follow doctor's orders on his way home.

I nodded and smiled. "I wanted to let you know, we are going to stop at a restaurant to grab supper. I am not going to be making food when I have to take care of my two guys tonight." Matt looked at me. "If you want me to cook, I probably can." I then went to grab his hand. "You are not cooking. You are staying in bed." Pulling away, I then went to the intersection so that I could drive Matt home. "Now, I am also not having any arguments. I am your nurse for the rest of the day and you will listen to wait I say. Not only that but, I am your wife. So keep me happy."

Matt chuckled and nodded. "If I want to have a happy life, trust me...that is what I am going to do. That's one of my mottos remember? Happy wife, happy life." I smiled when he said that. "Also, you can take off your mask now. It's just us." Matt agreed and then took it off. He then went and looked at Matteo in the mirror. "How was he while I was gone? Did he want me at all?" I shook my head. "He was fine. Matt, don't worry about us right now. Just worry about your recovery." Matt sighed and nodded. "Gabby, I will always worry about you guys."

I nodded and smiled as I drove by the firehouse. The guys were outside cleaning the trucks so, I decided to stop at the end of the driveway. Matt then opened the windows and smirked at them. "Hermann! You better make sure that I can see my reflection in those trucks when I come back to work!" Hermann then turned to look at us and chuckled. He then walked over to us but kept his distance. "What you guys doing out of the house? I thought you were bunkered down because of COVID?"

I looked at him and smiled. "That was the plan but this one decided to trip and fall to get a fun trip to the ER. Maybe he just wanted to see the pretty nurses and doctors. Get some extra female attention." Matt turned to look at me and laughed a bit. "Sure, because I want another woman's attention when I have my dream girl as my wife?" I smiled when he said that before grabbing his hand. Hermann then looked at us. "How's the little guy?" I then pointed that he is on his side. "Get all the guys. I will park here and you can see him for a bit. That okay Matt?"

Matt nodded. "Just for a minute." Hermann then turned around and looked at everybody. "Guys, Gabby and Matt are here. They're letting us see Matteo from the outside of their car." Everybody then walked over and smiled. That's when I saw Cruz. I looked at him confused. "Chloe hasn't begged you to stay home yet Cruz? Thought she was pregnant." He nodded and smiled. "She is." He then went and looked in at Matteo. "God, he's adorable. Can't wait to have my own kid." matt smiled when he said that. "I just wish this virus wasn't around. Then you guys could've babysat and practiced being parents for a while."

I nodded and agreed. "Cruz, we are going to send you some picks of some clothes we have okay? If you want any of them...let us know. The other stuff is going to be split up between Severide and my brother." That's when Severide walked over to us. "About that. Turns out my girl has decided not to continue with the pregnancy. We got the news that the baby was going to be a dwarf. She didn't want to deal with the medical complications." Matt looked at Severide and felt bad. "I'm so sorry for you Severide. What's going to happen with you guys?"

Severide sighed. "We ended our relationship. Now, I'm trying to pursue Stella again." Stella then looked at him. "Give me time, you literally just stopped dating someone you cared about. I am not going to be your rebound girl. Use a girl from online for that." Gabby smiled when I said that. "Amen!" I then turned to look at him. "Uhm, did you do that when we broke up?" Gabby looked at me and shook her head before slapping my arm. "When would I have time? I was working!"

Matt nodded and then grabbed my hand. "Sorry." I then looked at him. "I'm putting it to your head injury. But, one more thing like that and you are not getting any action tonight." That's when we heard Hermann speak up. "Okay, too much information guys." We nodded and chuckled. Matt then looked at Hermann. "How's the truck Captain?" He smiled at him. "We're all good. Don't worry, when you get back...you're going to do the drills. You were good at it."

Matt smiled and nodded. "Can't wait. I can always come by if you want me to drill them. Just let me know." I then looked at him and nodded. "Of course he can. That's a great way for him to get out of the house for a bit. He just has to do it from a distance. Promise Matt?" Matt nodded and agreed when he went to look at Matteo. "Listen, we need to get home. And by the way, can you all please stop breathing too much. Would rather not risk it." They all nodded and agreed.

I then smiled at our friends. "You guys stay safe okay?" They all nodded and agreed. Hermann then spoke up on behalf of the firehouse. "The same to you guys. And say hi to Sylvie for us. We don't talk to her much since all this started." Matt nodded and agreed. "We will. Now, we better go. We need to rest." They all nodded and smiled. I then took the van out of park and continued to drive home so that we could relax that afternoon.
