Gabby's POV: While driving from the hospital to iHop, I decided to open my phone and start my research on COVID. The paramedic and mom in me can't wait to get answers. Unfortunately, Matt was not going to let get started until we get home. "You better not be looking up COVID yet." I turned to look at him and sighed. "Matt..."
He went to stop at the light before looking at me. "Gabby, we just worked a 24 hour shift...you need to rest your brain for a bit. At least wait until we get home and we've eaten breakfast." I nodded and agreed that was the reasonable thing to do. "Anyways, you are literally just going to have to look at all the same websites again."
I was confused when he said that. "Why?" I asked him. Pulling into iHop, Matt smiled. "You really think that you're the only one that's going to be reading up on COVID? No way in hell. As your husband, I am going to be just as informed. Plus, I need to know the same information in case we are called in to do paramedic work."
I bit my lip when he said that. "You would really take a shift if it's this bad?" Matt sighed. "If it comes down to me, you or Sylvie...you're damn right I'll take a shift before you both." I sighed and went to grab his hand. "Gabby, Matteo needs you more than he needs me. And Sylvie is pregnant." I just glared at him. "He needs his dad too."
Matt nodded. "Listen, we can talk about this when we get home. We are here at the restaurant. Let's order, get some food and eat before we continue. We both know that we aren't good when it comes to talking on an empty stomach. That's when most of our big fights occur." I nodded and agreed as Matt pulled up to the drive-thru at iHop to get us breakfast.
