IDK You Yet - Alexander 23
You're sitting at the desk in your bedroom, working on your website. It's been fully set up for a while, but you update it all the time with new photos. You've been getting bookings now almost everyday for events, photo shoots etc. Business is finally starting to feel like it could be manageable.
Bucky has been away for barely 24hrs and the pit in your stomach has finally gone away. Having him more than a cab ride away means that you're pretty much on your own (other than Alice but she's got her own life).
You're taking a quick break to make a cup of tea when your phone rings. Bucky's name pops up and the corners of your mouth can't help but twitch up. You answer it after only a couple of chimes.
Y/n
"Hey! Good to know you and Sam haven't killed each oth-"
Sam
"Y/n, it's Sam."
And just like that, the pit is back.
Y/n
"Sam? Where's Bucky?"
You can here various sounds in the background; beeping, shouting, a tannoy. Hospital sounds.
Sam
"I don't want to worry you but the mission didn't go to plan. I don't know what kind of protein shakes these guys were taking but they did a real number on Buck."
Your heart sinks. You're afraid to ask because you know that he can usually shake anything off. The serum means he heals quicker so if it's worth a phone call, it's bad.
Y/n
"Is he, um..."
Sam
"No, no, he'll be okay. He's just beat up pretty bad. If it were anyone else they'd probably be on life support but luck for us, he's a cockroach."
You finally release the breath you've been holding, still struggling to keep a steady pattern though.
Sam
"They're gonna take him back to New York tonight. The last time I saw a super soldier like this, Steve was in the hospital after the Bucky beat him to a pulp. Just, prepare yourself okay."
Y/n
"Okay, thank you Sam. Text me which hospital they send him to."
With that, you both hang up. You know that you're not going to be able to stop worrying for the rest of the day, so distracting yourself until you hear anything more is your main priority. The image of him lying on the hospital bed, alone. Bruised and battered. You won't be able to get it out of your head until you actually see him.
