You try to sleep for a while longer, getting a bit more rest considering you missed out on a lot through the night. It's about 10 am when you finally crawl out of bed and take a warm shower. Your cramps are now around 7 minutes apart and not letting up. You're close to calling for Bucky to just say you're in labor, but you don't even know if the gaps are getting smaller or not. Just in case, you grab the hospital bag from the nursery and begin to double check everything inside. You're half way through when another cramp comes on. Checking your watch, you see that it's down to 6 minutes. Thinking that it's probably time to clue Bucky in, you casually message him to come upstairs.
Bucky
"Hey, you're up!"
Y/n
"Yeah, I just got out of the show-"
Bucky
"Why's the hospital bag on the bed?"
You leave a short pause to see if he'll figure it out by himself.
Y/n
"I think I'm in labor."
Bucky
"Wait like, like full on contractions waters braking-"
Y/n
"My waters haven't broken yet but contractions are down to 6 minutes apart."
Bucky
"Okay, right. Um, you've checked the bag?"
Y/n
"Twice."
Bucky
"And car seat is downstairs. We have the, the- the paperwork?"
You can see him starting to spiral as he goes through his mental checklist.
Y/n
"Yes, Bucky just calm-"
Bucky
"Food! We need to pack the snack bag and have you called your family?? We need to call the hospital as well and let them know we're coming an-"
Y/n
"Bucky?"
Bucky
"Yeah?"
Y/n
"Breath. We have time. We've been at this for 13 hours already and only just realised, the baby isn't about to fall out like a water slide."
Nodding slightly frantically, Bucky takes a few deep breaths before inevitably checking the bag himself. He then begins to gather things by the front door as you change out of you bath robe and try to focus on something other than the contractions, all the while being on the phone to the hospital so that they know you're expected to be there in a few hours and walk you through a checklist to make sure everything is as it should be.
