You've both been sitting on the floor, leaning on the couch for about an hour, just watching the tv. Neither of you are paying attention to what's on though. You're just thinking through things; his situation, what your next steps are etc. What's next for both of you.
Eventually, you're both ready to talk, which you sense.

Y/n
"So, just to put my mind at rest, if you weren't with Sam, where did you go?"

He turns slightly, still pretending to watch the tv.

Bucky
"Just walking, thinking. Trying to clear my head."

Understandable. It explains the mass of information he unloaded on you when he got back.
Now you turn your head so that you're looking directly at him. You try to take a cheerier tone to lighten the mood.

Y/n
"Hey, by the way, when were you gonna tell me that I was your emergency contact?"

He turns to face you like a deer in headlights. He's obviously forgotten he did it.

Y/n
"I didn't mind, I would have come straight to the hospital anyway..."

He looks you straight in the eyes and takes a moment of pause, just staring.

Bucky
"I, uh... I changed it when I 'rejoined society'. You were the only person I trusted to actually show up if I needed it. Even back then."

He continues to look at you with a slight glint in his eyes. There's something about it, like he's trying to say something. Or wants to say something.

Y/n
"What?"

He continues to say nothing. A small smile begins to appear, like he knows something you don't.

"What?? Do I have something on my fa-"

Bucky
"I love you too."

You're scared he's only saying it because you did. You don't want him to say it unless he means it, not to make you feel better.

Bucky
"I don't know why I didn't say it before. Truthfully, I haven't done anything like this before, the whole relationship thing. But I know what love feels like, and I do. I love you."

When he pauses, you take the opportunity to finally crack a smile, which grows every second.

Bucky
"For a long time now, you've been my one constant. The one reliable part of my life. Whatever happens next, I need you by my side. I want you with me. I-"

Y/n
"Just stop talking Barnes."

You cut him off and pull him into a kiss. It's not rushed, or gentle. It's passionate, but at the same time, there's a softness to it.
After a second, you release and look at each other again.
Every couple has their own thing. The thing that has specific meaning to them, and only them. Reading each other through your eyes seems to be yours.
