You Might Find Me - Jacob Banks

When you arrive home, you decide to leave the backdrop in the car. There's no point even trying to take it with you so you'll just ask Bucky to grab it when he has a minute later. Opening the front door, you place your bags on one of the dining room chairs and call round the house as you look through each doorway.

Y/n
"Buck? I'm home!"

Silence. After checking each room on the ground floor, you open the door to the basement and call down.

Y/n
"Bucky, you down there?"

Once again, no reply. It's after you close the door that you hear a small thud from upstairs. Looking towards the stairs, you grab the closest object that could be used as a weapon (that being a ladle) and slowly creep up. Stopping behind the doorframe of your bedroom, you see the nursery door is slightly ajar. Carefully stepping on the outsides of your feet, you move closer, trying to find an angle to peer in without making your presence known to the intruder. Not seeing anything, you slowly push the door open, ladle raised and ready to strike.

Y/n
"Jesus Christ, Bucky."

Bucky
"Shit! What are you doing home, I thought you'd be out way longer?!"

Lowering your arm and relaxing your shoulders in relief, you stare at the paint covered man on the ladder before you.

Y/n
"It didn't take as long as I expected, for god sakes I thought you were an intruder!"

You point towards your odd weapon of choice as you walk fully into the room.

Bucky
"And if I was, you were gonna kill me with a ladle?"

Ignoring him, you finally notice the mural on the ceiling. A night sky layered with clouds and stars covers the entire surface. It's not realistic exactly, but looks like something found in a children's book. The main colouring is grey as apposed to black or blue, and the stars take in their traditional form instead of the regular twinkling dots we see in the sky.

Y/n
"Did you do this?"

Looking up at his work, Bucky shows a hint of a smile in the corner of his mouth.

Bucky
"It was supposed to be a surprise for when you got home and it was meant to be done and I was meant to be cleaned up an-"

Y/n
"So you're telling me you did this all by yourself?"

Bucky
"Hey, I do have some artistic talents!"

Still gazing at the clouds above you, you reach for his hand and guide him off the ladder. Finally standing in front of you, he takes a second to look at your bewildered expression before looking at his handy work again.

Y/n
"This is... breathtaking."

Bucky
"You really like it?"

Y/n
"Are you kidding me?? I want it in our room!"

After a long pause of you both scanning the entire ceiling, you look at one another with massive grins. Wrapping your arms round his waist, you feel the front of your bump press to his stomach.

Y/n
"It's gorgeous."

Placing his hands on the sides of your face, he leans forward the new extra distance to place a soft kiss on your lips.

Bucky
"You're gorgeous."

Shyly bowing your head with a scrunched smile, you turn to the side to put a single arm round him.
Taking a deep breath through your nose, you gesture towards the mural as you speak.

Y/n
"Fwah, smell of paint really does clear your sinuses doesn't it!"

Bucky
"Crap!"

Quickly dashing to the window, he opens it all the way and goes back to take your hand. Leading you out of the room, he then shuts the door behind you both. Furrowing your brows you look to him for an explanation.

Bucky
"Paint fumes, bad for the baby."
