After that night, you both decided that taking a break from everything was needed. Him taking a break from super soldier stuff and you taking a break from all the stresses surrounding you. Looking at your schedule, you managed to find a week where you had no bookings or commitments, and Bucky was flexible anyway, so you decide to take a trip together. At first you thought about just going upstate somewhere, nothing too expensive. But then Bucky had the idea of visiting your family. It's a little over budget in terms of what you were expecting, but you haven't seen them in forever. After a few phone calls, everyone is up for it, surprisingly! The lessened cost of being able to stay with your brother, as apposed to a hotel, means that it doesn't sting your bank account as much.

You're packing with Alice the night before you and Bucky leave, just having a quiet girls night in.

Alice
"So, first couples retreat huh?"

Y/n
"I wouldn't call it 'a couples retreat'... more of a, convenient, stress relieving, get away."

You're both folding clothes and packing them into the suitcase as you chat.

Alice
"You know most couples have simpler forms of stress release..."

You hit her with a shirt before folding it back up neatly and placing it in the case.

Y/n
"Stop it."

She stops and leans on the wall as you close one draw and open another.

Alice
"How is that side of things by the way? Have you two, you know..."

You look at her, unimpressed. As close as you two are, you've never been very good at sharing details without blushing.

Alice
"Come on! It's not everyday you get the opportunity to play rough and tumble with an avenger. Let alone one that looks like that."

She trails off towards the end, lost in her own visions of him.
Once again, you snap her out of it by throwing a pair of socks at her head.

Y/n
"Hands off. And that side of things is very much satisfactory thank you..."

She then uncrosses her arms and gives a toddler like strop of disappointment.

Alice
"Satisfactory?? Hell no! You should be getting butterflies at the mere thought of hi-"

Y/n
"Okay! That's enough! He's been very respectful is all. He doesn't want make me uncomfortable."

She walks over to sit on the bed.

Alice
"And what about you? Is that something you want?"

Y/n
"Do I want to be respected?"

She raises her eyebrows to show that's not what she meant. But you know that.

Y/n
"Fine. I do sometimes wish he'd be a little more..-"

Alice
"Dominant?"

You scoff slightly.

Y/n
"No. I just feel like he's scared to even touch me sometimes. Like I'm made of glass. Do I want him to be a little more-"

Alice
"Hands on?"

Y/n
"Stop it. I was going to say passionate. He's just never really had one of those 'I need you now' moments. Every time I feel like it might be, he stops every 5 seconds to check if I'm okay."

You go over to join her on the bed.

Alice
"Have you told him any of this?"

Y/n
"No, it's not like he's doing anything wrong. I think it's just one of those things that takes time."

She turns to face you more and leans in.

Alice
"Okay, y/n. How long have you two been properly dating?"

You do a little bit of maths before reaching an answer.

Y/n
"About 4 or 5 months."

Alice
"Okay, and how long have you been playing hide the sausage?"

You look at her in annoyance of her uncaring nature towards the terminology and sigh.

Y/n
"Almost a month. Why?"

Alice
"Don't you think that's enough time for you guys to be completely honest with each other? I mean you already told him everything else right?"

Thinking back to the night he told you about his nightmares, you realise that maybe you should be a little more transparent. He's just shared something extremely personal and you can't even muster the courage to talk to him about your relationship. For Christ sakes you've already said I love you.

"I'll try to talk to him whilst we're away. It's supposed to be stress free so no promises."

Just then, you see your phone start to ring on the dresser. You go over to see Bucky's name lit up on the screen.

Y/n
"Speak of the devil."

You pick up the phone and stand up.

Y/n
"Hey, what's up?"

Bucky
"Is Alice there?"

His upbeat tone causes you to smile and giggle slightly as you speak.

Y/n
"Yes, why?"

Bucky
"Excuse yourself and leave the room."

You look at Alice for a second, then do as you're told.

Y/n
"Okay, I'm out."

Bucky
"I'm taking you out in London. Don't ask where, it's a surprise."

You play along with his sneaky nature.

Y/n
"Okay, can I at least ask the dress code?"

He chuckles slightly on the other end.

Bucky
"No need. You'll find out why eventually."

This just confuses you more.

Y/n
"Wha- that makes no sense!"

Bucky
"I'm sure you'll figure it out. I love you, Bye!"

With that, he hangs up. He was definitely trying to annoy you, which he succeeded in.
You run back through to the bedroom to see Alice zipping up your case. When she sees you, she stands up quickly with a suspicious smile. You ignore it however, still thinking about your cryptic exchange
