Peaceful Breaths

Chasing Pavements - Adele

You say goodnight to Max and head into your bedroom. You dim the side light on your bedside table, just enough so that you can see what you're doing. When you look over to Bucky, he's fast asleep. Usually you can tell if he's just pretending by his breathing. But his calm, deep breaths through his mouth tell you that he's completely gone. Not even a hint of a nightmare.
You sit for a moment, just watching how peaceful he is. You finally peel your eyes away and get ready for bed.
You switch the light off in the bathroom after brushing your teeth and make your way back round to your side of the bed. You turn off the light and climb under the covers. Bucky hasn't moved an inch from where he was when you first walked in. Trying not to wake him, you move closer and wrap one hand around his abdomen. Still asleep, he instinctively shuffles back a bit and wraps your arm tighter, holding your hand. You look up at the back of his head and smile one last time, before closing your eyes and drifting into sweet dreams.
