Best Part - Daniel Caesar, H.E.R

It's well into the evening now. Food has been served, cake cut, first dance has been swayed. You decided to hold the reception as you did the ceremony, outside and surrounded by lights and flowers. Just in case a summer rain decided to show up, you took the precaution of covering the area with a cream marquee. The edges are lined with mismatched tables and tablecloths, with a large polished platform in the centre as a dance floor. Watching from your seats as your father twirls around the dance floor with Dina, you and Bucky giggle at the usually tight lipped, upper class, stone wall of a man who has been completely derailed by a tiny shrub. Bucky is leant back against his chair with his bow tie undone round his neck and his top two buttons open. He'd given up his jacket an hour or so ago and it now hangs over your shoulders. You sit directly next to him with your chair angled so that your legs can drape, crossed over his thigh closest to you as you lean sideways to rest your elbow on Bucky's shoulder. Almost the entire room is on the dance floor apart from the two of you. It's probably the closest thing you've experienced to privacy since you were presented at the beginning of the reception. You spend the time of being semi alone whispering jokes in one another's ears and finding any excuse to be touching (hence your legs over his).

Y/n
"You know, I bet that even if we showed him a picture of this moment, he'd still deny it."

Bucky
"What do you mean?"

Y/n
"My father... dancing. Without a proper ballroom hold."

Bucky
"I'm not sure you give him enough credit you know. He's not as uptight as you make him out to be."

Y/n
"Maybe you're right. By the way, James, how's it coming digging up your family crest? You know how much father dear wants to have a signet ring made for you!"

Bucky
"Okay, I never said he wasn't posh!"

Looking back over to find Dina almost falling asleep in her grandfathers arms, despite the music and raucous sounds coming from your guests, you replace your elbow with your head on Bucky's shoulder and take a long breath.

The Joke - Brandi Carlile

Y/n
"We should get her to bed. She barely had a nap earlier, it's been a long day for a small person."

Bucky
"Okay, I'll call the babysitter. Do you want to try and pry her from your dad?"

Just for the night, you prepped an overnight babysitter so that everyone could enjoy themselves into the wee hours without anyone having to leave the party early, or wake up in the middle of the night to sooth a crying baby. You'll be in the same building though, as you and a few of the wedding party booked rooms in the venue just so that you didn't have to arrange taxis for the end of the night.
Parting with a prolonged peck, you move round the table as Bucky exits out to the quiet grassland behind the marquee whilst pulling out his phone. Slowly ambling towards your father, you begin to gesture her into your arms.

Y/n
"I'm afraid it's someone's bed time. Don't worry, you'll get her back tomorrow."

Phil
"You sure? I can put her down if you want?"

Y/n
"It's okay dad, you enjoy yourself. We'll only be a minute and we won't get to see her for a few days so we wanna soak up the last little bit of baby smell."

Seen as neither you nor Bucky wanted a long and extravagant honeymoon, you agreed to just spend a weekend away to celebrate your nuptials before getting back to the same life that you knew was waiting for you. It also gave your parents an excuse to stay in the States for a little longer and spend time with their newest granddaughter, so they offered to baby and house sit.
Finally peeling her from your father, you pull Dina close to your chest as she shrinks her arms in and let's her head fall onto your shoulder, eyes closed. Walking to where you can see the faint silhouette of Bucky, you see him take the phone away from his ear and place it back into his pocket. When you finally reach him, he strokes the back of Dina's head and kisses the top.

Bucky
"Babysitter is on his way, I don't think we'll have trouble getting this one to settle. Which means, we might have some time to ourselves before the sitter arrives..."

His words are full of innuendo as he plays with a single stray strand of your hair, and tucks it behind your ear.

Y/n
"Now if I didn't have a sleeping baby on my shoulder, I could have sworn that you were flirting with me Sergeant Barnes."

Bucky
"I wouldn't dream of it Mrs Barnes."

Just as he begins to lean down into a kiss, one finger under your chin to angle it up slightly, a low voice can be heard from behind him. A dark figure moving through the even darker grounds of the venue.

Fury
"Sorry to interrupt this beautiful moment, but seen as I'm lacking an invite, I suppose it adds to my dramatic entrance."
