Jennie

Dialling my most visited contact, I brought the phone up to my ears, hearing it ring incessantly, before going straight to voicemail.

"Wassup, you already know it's Mino, leave a message after the beep, don't forget to add your name babe."

I disconnected with a loud groan of frustration leaving my lips. Switching over to the messages, I decided to try my luck again.

Jennie: Mino???

Jennie: I'm worried

Jennie: ???

Jennie: This is not a joke please pick up the phone, Mino.

I then tried his social media, hoping there was some, any recent activity on there. None. He hadn't posted anything in the last three days. My eyes were glassing up at the thought of something happening to my best friend. All because of me.

Jennie: MINO WTF

Jennie: ARE YOU OK?

Running my hands through my hair, I started running down the opposite direction to where I was headed. I practically broke down the glass gates to the café as I rushed inside. My head was frantically darting around the place, hoping to spot Mino. I couldn't, but instead, I saw a familiar head of long blonde hair sitting at one of the booths. I made my way over there, the blonde and her friends snapping their heads towards my direction immediately, ceasing their talks.

"You're Seolhyun.." I breathed out.

The girl looked at me straight, "Yeah, and you're Mino Song's little pet monkey." Her friends snickered at her little joke. Normally I would have kept my head down and get moving, but right now just wasn't the time.

"Have you seen Mino recently? Or... or talked to him?"

Seolhyun huffed, "And why would I do that?"

"Cause you drove to Gangchon ski resort together? Just answer the question please." The tone of urgency had started to surface in my voice. The girls surrounding Seolhyun broke into gasps and looked at each other with wide mouths, one of them nudging her. By the looks of it, this was the first time they were hearing about the trip. She raised her brows, "Did he send you to..."

"Just answer the fucking question!" I barked, having had enough. The entire table fell silent.

Seolhyun opened her mouth to say something, then stopped. Instead, she sighed, "Last time I talked to him was, I don't know, like three days ago."

That felt like another punch to the gut. I backed away quickly, running out just as fast as I'd come in. I ran my way over to Mino's Hall. There I practically sprinted my way up the stairs and into his room. His bed was empty, the other one occupied by his roommate.

"Where's Mino?" I asked in between pants, breathless from all the running.

He rolled his eyes, "Oh God no, please for the love of God, I can't change the sheets every... Oh wait." He paused, "You're his friend, Jennie right?"

"Where is he?" I asserted yet again, frantically.

"Umm.. I don't know, he went for the Delta Kappa Beta party two nights ago and hasn't got back yet."

I mumbled a small thanks and closed the door. The walk between Mino's dorm to mine was a blur. A blur of every possible dark thought I could accumulate in my mind. But once in a while, I'd muster up the courage to think about other possible things before jumping to conclusions. He could be out and about the town, or with one of his jock friends, who knows right? As I walked up to my room, I wiped the streaks of tears away from my cheeks, inhaling deeply.

Just as I had opened the door, I paused still, my hands still clutching the doorknob as I stood under the doorframe. For a second my mind went numb, not being able to process the scene in front of my eyes.

Then my eyes widened. I let out the loudest, most ear-piercing shriek I'd ever screamed.

For there on my own bed, lay the body of my best friend, Mino Song.
