I know little about the Yin Iron. I know it used to be a balance between the heavens and the Earth, harvesting good intent by sending souls to rest. Later, it gathered too many resentful spirits and it turned into an object of power to gain a sense of control and grow their greed for power. Wei Wuxian was different. He had no desire of power or greed of any kind. I feel as if the resentful energy took to him because they trusted him not to use it in vain like those of the past.
Resentful energy wasn't supposed to be used for greed. Looking through these scriptures, they want to be used for good. The spirits under Wei Wuxian's control, they heed to his command. He doesn't ask of them for much. They helped him get revenge for his family at Lotus Pier, but then let him be, in a way. The masked man who attacked him, they had the intent of harming him.
There has to be some sort of answer to destroying the amulet without harming Wei Wuxian in the process. That was the ultimate goal. I think once he is cleansed and has a decent amount of energy from a new golden core, it may be the better solution.
"If you're trying to find answers on destroying the amulet, I've looked a thousand times through those," I heard him say.
I looked over at Wuxian, "the amulet will be destroyed somehow. Perhaps if there were multiple people helping to destroy it. The amulet isn't necessarily connect to you. It's something that harbors the resentment and can be potentially controlled my anyone. If we don't want it in the wrong hands...and another potential war to break out, we have to figure something out."
"I know, I'm wondering if we were to destroy it in the mounds where it was created, would it make a difference," he stated, "there is a place there inside the cave I lived in. I called it the blood pool. It is filled with yin energy. It's similar to the cold spring as the cold spring has Yang Energy to help heal. The Yin is the same. I called it Blood Pool because the water inside looks and smells like blood but it is not. It's also dangerous to use if the person isn't careful around it....maybe that pool can be of use."
"Since it is heavy in resentment, it could just work," I said, "I would like to get you healed properly before we even attempt anything."
He nodded, "thank you, I think."
"Of course, your health is important just like everyone else's," I told him.
He smiled at me, "not trying to make it seem weird but I feel you'd be an excellent partner and parent to someone someday," he told me, "they way you care for people is very sweet and genuine."
"Thank you, and I'll take it as a compliment...not too weird I suppose," I said.
"This might be a weird question but, do you consider me as family?" He asked.
I became curious by his question. I stood up and went to sit beside him after I took his food try and set it aside as he was done.
"Why do you ask me that?" I asked, "I see you as a brother. Not just as an in-law, as you and Wangji are soulmates. I see you as a brother of the same blood. You're a good person, and you have this way of having people around you feel happy and comfortable with you."
"I was just curious is all," he said.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" I asked.
"It's just, I see you as a brother as well. I've only ever been in such a vulnerable state around people I consider family," he said, "it's been embedded into my head for a long time. I remember making a promise to my parents just before they left and I never saw them again. They had me promise them to always be happy and smile, not to cry in front of those who are not family. I've been so open to you and a little bit to Lan Zhan. I just wanted to make sure that you considered me as family."
I felt my brain just flatline for a minute as I was trying to take that information in. Is that why he always seems to be so happy and hides everything from others? He promised his parents such a thing? It basically close him off from society. Us only seeing one side of him when he had such a completely different personality hidden inside him.
"A'Xian, I want you to listen to me," I said. He then looked directly into my eyes, "you are family. You don't ever have to hide who you really are with me or Wangji. We want you to be yourself. We want you to be able to let out how you feel. I want you to know that you can cry in front of me. You don't need to put up some façade. Do you understand?"
He nodded, "thank you for letting me talk to you about so many things. I didn't know that I would feel as if I took something heavy off my shoulders," he said.
"Absolutely," I said, "if only I can get Wangji to do the same."
"You want to have him let you in," he said, "he is stubborn. Maybe try to find a way to get him to open up like you have with me. At least you could try anyway."
"I suppose so," I said, "have a better relationship with him would be nice. I might have some ideas."
"That's good," he said and yawned.
"Tired still?" I asked.
"Yeah, though I had just recovered from a fever, I still have bones that need healing."
"We can talk more a bit later, get some rest," I told him.
"Ah, Xichen-Ge?" He asked as I was ready to get up.
"Hmm?"
"Can you...stay for a bit...at least until I fall asleep again?" He asked.
I smiled at him and sat closer to him on the bed, "sure," I told him.
I allowed him to snuggle close to me and place his head on my lap. I couldn't help but get this warm feeling in my chest. This man is just too much. He is so sweet and kind. Yes the resentful energy messed with his temper once, but looking past that, he is just a person like everyone else. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep, but I didn't want to move. So, I checked through the books I brought Wuxian that was near his bed and took one to read as he slept.
