Chapter 106

"How are you and A'Xian doing?" Lan Xichen asked his brother.

"We are doing okay," Wangji replied, "We are slowly working things out."

"Where is he now?" Xichen asked.

"In the backhills with the rabbits," Wangji answered, "I told him I would spend time with him today, and it would be just us."

"It seems I interfered with your plans," Xichen said, "as I asked you to meet with me for a brief moment."

"Wei Ying understood and told me to come. I was going to deny your request but Wei Ying did not want me to," Wangji explained.

Xichen smirked, "why don't I walk you back to him?"

"You did not tell me what you needed," Wangji said.

"I will explain with both you and A'Xian...I just wanted to speak with you alone for a moment because I wanted to know how you both are doing," Xichen told him.

"Is it about Meng Yao?" Wangji asked.

Xichen nodded.

Wangji sighed, "I do not want secrets with Wei Ying. Anything about Meng Yao and his war, I want Wei Ying present," He demanded.

"I understand," Xichen said, "it was not my intention to keep it from A'Xian. Like I said, I wanted to speak with you first."

"Wei Ying told me he wants to be more involved with the sect. He misses training disciples in archery, and he wants to do something more. I told him I would tell you and Uncle about it. You know Wei Ying just as much as I do. You know he wants to do more. That is why I suggested a place just for Wei Ying here in Cloud Recesses. A place for Wei Ying to work on his talismans and charms, and a place for him to feel free to do as he likes," Wangji explained, "that is Wei Ying's wish and I want to make it happen. I am starting to understand. He will not feel comfortable here in our sect until he feels like he is more involved. So I ask you, Huan-Ge, will you help me make this happen for him?"

Xichen smiled fondly at his brother, "I will help you. We can sit with Shufu to talk about this more. I do not want to keep you from your husband any longer though."

"So you agree, Wei Ying needs to feel more involved?" Wangji asked.

"Of course, why wouldn't I agree?" Xichen asked.

"I do not know, I just wish I noticed sooner," Wangji replied.

"Hey, do not beat yourself up over this. I understand you want to do everything you can for A'Xian, but he needs to learn to communicate with you too," Xichen told him.

Wangji was now starting to understand. Lan Xichen was upset with Wuxian at the moment. He was not upset over the things Wuxian held from him and Wangji. He was upset that Wuxian just left like that and did not think about the consequences of his actions. Lan Xichen was at a stalemate with himself though, as he knows if he reprimands Wuxian, it could cause Wuxian to close up again, and he did not want that to happen. He walked to the back hills with Wangji in silence as he tried to figure out a way to talk with Wuxian about the situation he caused. When he saw Wuxian, however, the smile on his face and the glowing light that shines out of his eyes were seen on full display.

How can Xichen be mad at him?

Seeing Wei Wuxian right now, it reminded him of the day he ran into Wuxian in Yunmeng. Seeing the young man sitting in a window of a tavern, drinking his life away. It brought back the memories of seeing the pain Wei Wuxian was in and how difficult it was for him to come clean to Xichen. It brought back the memories of seeing Wei Wuxian breakdown in front of him because he was so lost and had a dark void inside of his heart. He could still hear the pleading in Wuxian's voice when he asked Xichen to help him. He could still hear the late night, agonizing screams when Wuxian was staying with him in The Hanshi. Remembering all of that, he had to let go of his moment of weakness. He had to let go of the fact he was upset with Wuxian.

Lan Xichen wanted to correct what had happened. Xichen did not want Wei Wuxian to feel like his life had no value here in his sect. He refused to accept that. He made a promise to Wuxian and himself that he would always make sure Wuxian felt comfortable and felt that his life had a purpose and was valued. To also make sure he always felt welcome here in Cloud Recesses. Lan Xichen sighed and could not help but smile at the sight of his brother-in-law holding a cute little white rabbit. He remembered when he heard Wangji call Wuxian, Bunny. Seeing it now, he could understand why Wangji said so.

As he stood there, he saw his brother sit down beside Wuxian, pull the man to his lap, and place a kiss on the side of his head. Lan Xichen felt his heart warm up at the sight. Knowing that this love that Wangji has for Wuxian, was similar to how he felt about Wen Qing. That want to make your partner feel special and loved by simple actions such as holding them and kissing their face. Cuddling with them and being playful as well. Wuxian looked towards Lan Xichen's direction and smiled. The smile he gave Xichen, made him want to hit Wuxian over the head with Liebing. The amount of emotions Xichen goes through because of Wuxian was a lot to handle in one day.

I have to admit, I never expected to write this many chapters for this fanfic but here we are. I have yet to get the main battle between Meng Yao and the rest of the sects, so we have a little while before this book ends. I am glad you all are enjoying it though.
