Chapter 121

It's been at least two months, Xichen and Wen Qing are now immortal and ready to go about the next step with getting Meng Yao. Lan Xichen, Lan Wangji, and Wei Wuxian went to Qinghe for a conference meeting. Jin Zixuan and Yanli arrived just before they did with a couple Jin sect disciples. And just after the Lan Sect arrived, the Jiang Sect arrived. Jiang Cheng even brought his wife-to-be, Luo MeiZhen. (I mentioned her a long time ago 😂).

Wei Wuxian was surprised to see such a development from Jiang Cheng but he was happy for him. Luo MeiZhen was actually Luo Qingyang's (Mian Mian's) twin sister. So Wei Wuxian was surprised to see Mian Mian had returned, but now was apart of the Jiang Sect. Wei Wuxian sat beside Lan Wangji while Lan Xichen sat on the other side of him. Wen Qing was beside him. Lan Qiren even made the time to come to this meeting as well.

"Uncle Lan, it's good to see you again," Wuxian greeted with a bow.

Lan Qiren nodded once in return as he was a bit suspicious by Wei Wuxian's sudden politeness to him, but they have worked things out a long time ago. Lan Qiren knows of his mischievous nature though.

"Glad to see you and Wangji are doing better," Lan Qiren told him.

Wei Wuxian nodded and decided to move to sit beside for a bit, "want to know something interesting?" Wuxian asked.

"What might that be?" Lan Qiren questioned.

"Well, some changes happened. Xichen-Ge and Qing-Jie are immortals now, and I just found out that my father's side has the abilities of a nine tailed fox," Wuxian explained.

"Really?" Lan Qiren asked.

"You can thank my Wai Po for that," Wuxian said, "Wen Qing is a Phoenix."

"What?" He asked, "are you sure?"

"Yes," Wuxian confirmed, "you have yet to see my grandmother again. Are you afraid of her?"

"Nonsense," Lan Qiren said.

"Then come to her mountain with us next time," Wuxian offered.

Lan Qiren cleared her throat, "I will think about it. After all, I am in charge of the sect when Xichen is away."

"Mnn," Wuxian said and stood, "very well, I am going to get back to my seat. The meeting is about to start."

"We can discuss this again later," Lan Qiren told him.

Wuxian nodded and went back to sit between Wangji and Xichen, "I think your uncle just lied to me," Wuxian said with a smirk.

"Why would you say that?" Xichen asked.

"I asked if he was afraid of my grandmother, and he said no," Wuxian explained, "but his answer was a bit delayed and he always makes excuses to meet her."

"Oh," Xichen said, "it is probably because Uncle knows that your grandmother knows what you have been through. He was not that kind to you in the beginning."

Wuxian chuckled, "true, and Wai Po has been meaning to say hello to him."

"It's forbidden to gossip behind someone's back," Lan Qiren scolded.

"You broke a rule too," Wuxian pointed out.

"Wei Ying?" Wangji questioned.

"You tell me to behave once, and I will throw this table across the room," Wuxian warned, "I need to know that you trust me. I am not doing anything wrong."

Wangji sighed, "I was not going to reprimand you," he said, "do you not see the cup of wine in my hand?"

Wuxian looked down at his hand then back up at Wangji, "you better not be drinking," Wuxian warned.

"Not for me," he said, "for you. I got wine for you."

Wuxian nodded and took the cup. He just set it down on the table and placed his elbows on the table and his face in his hands. He was now a bit frustrated.

Why can't I just get this right? I am an asshole!

"Wei Ying, it is okay. Do not worry about it or beat yourself up," Wangji told him.

Mnn! Wuxian moaned internally.

Wangji chuckled and took Wuxian's hand that was closest to him. He then had Wuxian sit up properly, it's okay My Love. You are not an asshole.

Wuxian was now unable to hold back laughter, but, he laughed quietly. Xichen turned his attention to them and tilted his head slightly. He gave them a questionable look. Wangji shook his head at him. Xichen nodded. It was, of course, the strange silent communication between Xichen and Wangji.

"Alright, welcome to this month's conference meeting," Sect Leader Nie Mingjue said, "I was told by Zewu Jun that he has information to share with us about Nightless City."

Xichen nodded and said, "When the Lan Sect led the siege to Moling, we found scriptures that were a bit worrisome. With some help from Yueguang Jun, we found that Meng Yao is trying to set up an array. This array, if successful, will cause a huge calamity as it is to activate a portal to the underworld. The plans we found has notes of Meng Yao wanting to unleash all the evil into our world. If we can get to Nightless City and get rid of the array before it is activated, we have a better chance at defeating Meng Yao.

"Something that was discussed, was having Wei Wuxian, my brother, and me, go to the Scorching Sun Palace pretending to go with some sort of truce. In the meantime, that is when you can get to removing the array. Wei Wuxian was to help get that Yin Hu Fu out of Meng Yao's hands. The chances of there being corpses and puppets are high, but it is a suggestion."

"If you three are going into the Sun Palace, I want to come," Jiang Cheng stated, "as I am able to help. I can use Zidian if it is needed."

"Very well," Xichen said.

"I want to let you all know, I recently came into contact with my grandmother," Wei Wuxian said, "she is going to help us with the array. Especially if it is close to being activated."

"When does she plan on coming?" Sect Leader Nie asked.

"Whenever you are ready to storm Nightless City," Wuxian answered.

"Will a weeks time be long enough for everyone to prepare?" Sect leader Nie asked.

Everyone felt it was a reasonable amount of time. So with the plan set, Wen Qing, Xichen, Wangji, and Wuxian went back to Baoshan's mountain to explain to her the plan that was discussed.
