~*Wei Wuxian's POV*~
At the library, we went to the cultivation section and we each took a few books to look through. After a few hours, we thought we might not find anything until I finally found something.
"Hey, I think I found what we are looking for," I said and moved to a desk. The two sat with me as I read, "main cultivation comes from the basics, of the golden core. It strengthens as the cultivator matures and properly goes through the process of cultivating. There are other forms of cultivation but most of them are common through a bloodline. For example, it is said that famous immortal, Baoshan Sanren has the gift of elemental cultivation. Which means in her family line, that cultivation will follow.
The cultivation is dormant until the young cultivator is close to their next level of cultivation. That means, if you start to cultivate an element like Baoshan, you are soon to ascend to immortality. Though Baoshan Sanren is the only known person to be recorded of immortality. Her disciples usually come close but have not had good luck after leaving her mountain. Even her daughter, Cangse Sanren was said to have cultivated two elements before her death..."
I stopped reading. How is it that the Lan Clan has this in their library?
"So, as I am a descendant of Baoshan's bloodline, I can cultivate the elements...water being the first one. Which means, even though I just cultivated this new core, it is already almost strong enough to reach the next level..." I said, "how am I supposed to react to that? Why did my cultivation triple when my new core form?"
"I am not sure," Xichen-Ge said, "but it confirms that you are close to ascension. If you wish to slow down, you can stop going to the cold spring. But if you wish to just continue on, it is up to you. Something you can consider is maybe try inquiry."
"Associate with spirits?" I asked.
"Try to reach out to your mother, maybe she can give you more information about this. Maybe she can help you find your grandmother so she can give you some information on how to help you," Xichen-Ge said.
"How can we contact her specifically?" I asked.
"Do you have anything that belongs to her or that she gave to you that was hers?" Lan Zhan asked.
I slowly removed the red ribbon from my hair, "this was hers. She gave it to me the night she died," I told them.
"I am good with Inquiry," Lan Zhan said, "I can let you think about it."
I nodded, "okay," I said putting the ribbon back in my hair, "if you can, I will try to give you an answer tomorrow. That way I have a night to sleep on it."
Lan Zhan nodded, "ask questions if you need to," he said.
"Out of curiosity, now that you know some of my bloodline, is there anything in your bloodline, if you were to ascend?" I asked them.
"The closest to accomplish this was Lan An, our founder. He was the last known Yin and Yang Master. If we were to ascend, we would probably follow that path," Xichen-Ge answered.
"I wonder if different blood has different types of cultivation?" I questioned.
"Potentially," Lan Zhan said, "not able to know for sure."
I nodded, "one of you could try to ascend to find out."
"We have not had any time to try," Xichen-Ge said, "Maybe Wangji can follow you and try."
"Will think about it," Lan Zhan said.

~*Lan Xichen's POV*~
I was not sure what we would find when we searched the library. Finding out A'Xian is close to ascending to immortality is actually quite interesting and I'm sure Uncle and Wen Qing would like to hear about this development. At the moment though, A'Xian seemed to be overwhelmed by it all.
"Why don't we stop here," I suggested, "A'Xian, try not to get too overwhelmed by this. We will help you through this as we have helped you in the past. Okay?"
He nodded, "thanks," he said and looked at Wangji, "walk back with me?"
Wangji responded with a nod. I took care of the few books that were out and let the boys go. Wangji was doing better at helping A'Xian through his stress, which was a good thing. After taking care of the books, I went to visit uncle again to inform him of our findings.
"How is the boy so strong already?" He asked after I explained it to him.
"I'm not sure, it might be because he cultivated a core once so his body was good enough to build a new one. Or perhaps the little spiritual energy he had before his new core was quite a good amount even though we don't know how much it was," I explained, "all I know is, since he can use water cultivation, it is only a matter of time before he uses the other elements. Plus the addition of immortality."
"Perhaps we need to look for external sources beyond Gusu. Though how do we find such information?" He asked.
"It is up to Wuxian, but I suggested if he has any of his mother's to try inquiry. Wangji said he would help him if he agrees to it," I told him, "perhaps if they can speak with Cangse, we can get some insight."
"It may be our best lead," He said, "speak with Wen Qing. She is a fantastic healer, she may have her own thoughts and theories as well."
I nodded and stood up, "I was going to visit her next."
"Well, best not keep her waiting," he said with a smirk.
"Why does everyone do that?" I asked quietly.
"Because you are oblivious like Wangji when he fell for Wuxian," Uncle told me, "or in denial."
"Shufu?" I questioned.
"You know where the door is," he said opening a scroll beside him.
I let out a huff of air before leaving, "unbelievable," I said quietly, "is it that obvious? Do I like her? Why do others assume so before I am even aware?"
